seaturtles and boatyard?!

im going to barbados on a cruise and i wanted to go to the boatyard and also swim/snorkel with sea turtles.how far away from the boatyard are the turtles are they close to shore or deep?.ive seen shore excursions say theyll take u to carlisle bay but where in the bay what part or is paynes beach better?
