What if booked ship gets new port?

This being only our third cruise was curious what the norm is if you are booked such as we are on the Freedom out of FLL and CCL decides to move it to Galveston next year. Do they credit your deposit/payments for another cruise with OBC or are your funds refunded? Wish they would let folks know what they are doing so one could make airline/hotel arrangements when the time comes. Thanks for any info.

We were booked on the Splendor before it was announced it was being repositioned to Miami. They stated they would honor our rate for a like cruise (8 day), and we got $100 OBC ($50 each). So, we rebooked for the Freedom in April 2015 which now may or may not be leaving. I'm not 100% sure, but they may of made the announcement of the change prior to when people could of booked flight/hotels, though I could be wrong. Based on the information I've read about the Freedom going to Galveston, I would think Carnival will make this announcement sometime in the next couples, before airfare can be booked.

Thanks for the replies. It makes one think they would have already known they were going to do the repositioning and block the booking capability but guess we can hope to know soon since we try to book airfare as early as possible since it usually just goes up for us up here in the great ice bowl, lol.
