Frugal Mom's cruise saving tips

Recommended Posts

I'm English, where our water comes out of the tap. I made a point of asking whether the water is drinkable and was told all water on board is drinking water. Whether its out of a water cooler in the gym, or the tap in the bath room. It all tastes fine. We didn't have a soda package on our last trip as my daughter doesn't do fizzy. She drank iced water all weekend and has been absolutely fine.

The ship's water is safe to drink. In fact, the water is purer than most bottle waters. The water is filtered by reverse osmosis (RO). It may taste different than your tap water at home, because RO will filter out trace minerals that municipal filtration systems won't. It just so happens than I am an engineer and I actually specialize in drinking water treatment.

We always take our own bottles on the ship and refill them with the ship's tap water throughout the cruise. I personally do not waste my money on bottled water when tap water is free.
