jack300s Posted March 1, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 1, 2014 Looking for advice from a first time visitor to Florida. Our 14 day Panama Canal Cruise ends in Miami (Oct 2014). We'll be cruising the the NCL Pearl. Because this is our first trip to Miami we're thinking about spending a few days in the Miami area before flying home to California... Which area and hotels would you recommend? Should I rent a car? Which airport would you recommend flying out of? Most see places and activities? Favorite Restaurants? We like everything from burgers to fine steaks and seafood. Wouldn't mind trying some great Cuban food for the first time? Any other tips for a first timer in the area? Thanks Jack
eandj Posted March 1, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) Get yourself a nice travel book for Miami/Miami Beach . ;) If you are interested in the Miami shown most often on tv shows you'd need to look at Miami Beach, South beach included. All depends what you LIKE to see and do. There's lots in the area. But unless you see maps of the area, see everything that's available, I'm afraid reading what others rec here probably won't give you all what of you want and need to know. A good book will give you a start :) Then when someone rec's a place or activity at least you can see where it is or how to get there. Lots of great web sites on the area too! Start with Trip advisor.com MANY great restaurants in Maimi Beach area. Staying around Lincoln Rd. would for me be a great base. Kind of at the "start " of South Beach. Public transportation options easy. Go south to South beach/art deco vibe or head north to more swanky Miami Beach.
