Doing a b2b

Just wondering how you book a b2b and what're the advantages of it and can you do it if you get two weeks off a year?

You book a B2B by making reservations on 2 cruises that are one immediately after the other. They are separate reservations.

I usually determine when I want to go, then call my PVP. He makes sure we have the same room so we don't have to pack up at the end of the first cruise. That's one advantage.

Another advantage is that you pay for transportation only once.

I currently have a B2B booked on the Fascination in the fall. The first cruise has a concert by Kansas and the second one has a concert with Styx. They are 5 days each, not a whole week.

We are doing our first B2B next year. If you only have 2 weeks off a year, another option might be to book a 7 day then a 4 or 5 day, you would have to switch ships, but in a port like Miami, I'm sure you can find 2 ships that load and unload on the same day to make that work.

Recently got back from a 2 week B2B on the Liberty. It was a Saturday to Saturday. So if your vacation will handle it, go for it. As stated earlier, the travel costs are the same, that's why we did it. When booking make sure you get the same room, if you want. Some people change rooms. We do not. It is great tho. In-between cruises you hang out, relax and when the time comes, get new S&S cards, take care of customs and back on board. For that little bit the ship is quiet. You have access to your room the entire time.

we've done a b2b on the same ship as the 2 weeks have different ports of call. So in 2 weeks we go to 6 islands. There are so many things to do on the ship we plan doing some 1st week and others the 2nd. Also making good friends with the staff. Same room is a key to staying on the same ship. We loved it so much we're book in April for a b2b.

We love doing B2B cruises, same ship, same cabin. We have our 4th B2B already booked for next year.

If you do book a B2B make sure your bookings are linked. On the 3 B2Bs we've been on, we've received a small fruit basket & bottle of champagne from the hotel director at the beginning of the 2nd cruise. Since I prefer white wine, I took the champagne to the DR and asked the hostess if she'd exchange it for white wine. No problem.

After the 1st cruise, we've met in the atrium, "checked out" using our old S & S cards, gone through customs, and back on the ship with new S & S cards. Then we've had the ship to ourselves for about an hour or so.

Hey Sparky -- We've done 2 B2Bs on different ships/same port. Decided to do our 1st B2B on the Dream this past January. Were really looking forward to the 'ship to ourselves' for a while.

What a night mare. Met at guest services, lots of B2Backers. 1 guy to check us all in. Must have been 80 to 100 guests. The guy has to sort through a stack of envelopes for our new S&S cards.

When we finally got through Customs and got our new cards, we were re-boarding after the new boarding passengers.

Nice not to have bags to drag around, nice for our room to be all unpacked, but there was already a crowd on Lido.

One of the couples traveling with us had done a B2B 2 months earlier and said there were only 11 doing the B2B and had the ship to themselves for over an hour.

Oh well, we are trying it again next November on the Sunshine.

What are the chances of getting the same table/ wait staff on a b2b?

All you have to do is tell the maître d, he'll take care of it from there. We've done 4 B2B and when we tell the wait staff that we're doing B2B, they get excited for us and we all have fun knowing that our friendship will continue for the second leg.

The Victory does 5 day cruises. We are booked on a B2B on her making it a ten day cruise.

We did our first B2B last Nov. on the Liberty. We had a great time, not much of a hassle between cruises. We were off and back on the ship in about ten minutes. We had the same cabin and wait staff for both legs of the trip.I would use a pvp to ensure you get the same cabin. We will be doing another B2B this Nov. on the Breeze.

most of the time not a problem but the wait staff rotate sections every four cruises. So it depends if your cruise falls on the rotation or not. Because some parts of the dining room make the wait staff more money, the Maitre'd usually will not hold up rotation for b2b cruisers. But it is still worth asking, just talk to the Maitre'd a few days into the first cruise.

On my last cruise (Grandeur of the Seas) there was a couple on their 3rd of 4 back to back cruises. Since Royal doesn't have laundry, I'm still flabbergasted that they did that (Regularly according the to the lady)!

I have a B2B scheduled for November, after the first cruise how does the customs process work, do you have to fill out a customs form, do you have to take your passport with you?

That depends on the port. Tampa you don't have to do anything just pick up your new card ( they put ours in the mail box the night before this last one ) that mornin'. Canaveral you are escorted off the ship & must go through customs. Have ask why & can't seem to find anyone who knows.

How do you link bookings? I reserved with my PVP at Carnival, he did not mention anything. Is this something that can be seen online?

Thanks!!!!

I've done a B2B (and have another one booked) and I don't know what is meant by "Linking" your bookings.

Our experience was that we booked the two legs separately and had different booking numbers. During the 1st leg we mentioned to GS we were doing a B2B, that's about it. Maybe they put a note in your record or something, but I was not aware of any formal "Linking" process and I don't think there is one.

One thing to be aware of is the charges from the 1st leg are closed on your credit card prior to the 2nd leg. We had a credit from the casino from the first leg that disappeared on the 2nd leg (we got a check from the 1st leg 5 weeks later). Not a big deal, but just an FYI.
