Please tell me about the library on the Pride

On our recent Fantasy cruise, we were barely able to use the library. It was reserved for private occasions so much of the time; and when it was open, the cabinets that housed the games and the very small selection of books were locked. There were certain "library hours"; and only during those hours could you access the games and books.

It really was not user-friendly.

Since we will be TWO WEEKS on the Pride, I am wondering if we need to bring a lot of our own books or if we will be able to enjoy the Pride's library.

We like the kind of library where they have an honor system - take what you want from the open shelves and leave them in the book bin when you leave. Other ships (RCCL is what I am remembering) seem to find that workable. We also usually take a book or two of our own and donate them to the ship as we leave.

Many thanks.

Hey Kathy,

We are on the same cruise. I was always one who would rather have a book than a tablet... But once I got the tablet and read books on it, I love it. It works so well at night when wife and I are in bed. Don't need a light to read with. Plus, I can carry a lot of books on the tablet at no weight. :)

As I'm sure you are aware, the Pride is going through extensive dry dock modifications in October of this year. Part of the upgrades is the addition of the "Library Bar"... which includes a self serve wine dispenser and full bar. I'm speculating those bar additions will be done to the current Pride library so by March 2015, the library that exists on the Pride today, may be much different, particularly where book selections are concerned after the changes.
