difference between front and back of ship

Probably more important than forward or aft, port or starboard, is what is above or below you or who your cabin neighbors will be.:p Check to see if there is a pool area or lounge above you. Of course, you can not control who your neighbors will be - pot luck - on that. We have been far forward on Diamond and far aft on Zaandam to Alaska and both times we had great balcony cabins with little noise except when kids ran down the hall and hollered or banged on their cabin doors to get in. Also very little movement on either end. I do agree that the mid section is the area for the least movement. Of course if you get into some high seas, you will feel it where ever you are. Check out your ship diagram thoroughly with the advice of a good cruise TA before selecting one. gg

Back of the ship may encounter more vibration and noise, but not too much movement. Front may enconter more movement. Mid ship is the best I would say.

Noise and vibration also will depend on the type of propulsion system used by the ship.

I have stayed aft on all my cruises except the Legend. The Sensation shuddered a great deal as wepulledinto or out of port. The rest of the week was fine. Stayed on the Direct aft on all the rest of the cruises. There was no more motion/noise then what the rest of the ship felt/heard.
