JMKreno Posted March 3, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 3, 2014 I am traveling with family to Puerto Vallarta in April on Carnival. I booked the Pirate Ship excursion through Carnival, but then I found it for a better price through a third party (almost 50% less). I submitted the form for price protection through Carnival since the details of the excursion are EXACTLY the same (it IS the same excursion). Carnival denied stating that no transportation is provided. The Pirate Ships leave from the Marina terminal, and the cruise ships dock in the Marina terminal. The vendor even states that no fees are required from cruise ship passengers to enter the marina since we are already in the marina! I even remember seeing them load/unload passengers right by the ships last time I was in Puerto Vallarta! Has anyone done this through Carnival (or other cruise lines)? What transportation did they provide? Looking at the maps provided on the Pirate Ship site, the pirate ships board in the same area of the terminal as the cruise ships! pulledporky Posted March 3, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 3, 2014 There is no transportation required other than your feet. I got my OBC for rhythm of the night and it leaves from the same spot. Unless there is some other pirate boat. 50% is a lot. Almost sounds like a timeshare promo. If carnival still denies it just cancel and book the other vendor. Ine Posted March 3, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 3, 2014 It leaves from close to the cruise dock, you will see the pirateship right away when docked. However it is seen as another part of the port and in this case you likely will have to pay a small harbortax, probably Pesos 20,- per person. IslandBound79 Posted March 4, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 4, 2014 I feel your pain! Keep fighting it and they will reluctantly except your claim. It took us a month of fighting back and forth but in the end we got the price match! It made me crazy that they were denying it do to transportation even though neither Carnival or Puerto Vallarta Tours include transportation because the Pirate ship docks directly next to the cruise ship! We sent them pictures, screen shots detailing that the pirates would escort us from the cruise ship to the pirate ship and even a letter from the tour company that this was the case! (Even months later this really annoys me!!!) But in the end we won! Keep fighting and you will too!
JMKreno Posted March 4, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted March 4, 2014 IslandBound, thanks for this information. Is there anything you can send me showing that they price matched this excursion for you so I can show them the inconsistency? I am going to call the rep who denied the excursion since they appear to be ignoring my emails. I have 9 people booked for this excursion and really would like to save the money and use it for other things on-board! It's frustrating. I even got a letter from the vendor who was confused why carnival said there was transportation included.

chorale Posted April 3, 2014 #8 Share Posted April 3, 2014 We took the Pirate Ship excursion a couple of weeks ago while on an NCL cruise. For our trip, we WALKED to the Pirate ship from our cruise ship. The pirates came to our gangway and organized us into groups and we all walked. Its a bit of a hike, but no transportation was provided or expected. At the end of the day, we walked back. By the way, this was a GREAT excursion. The "pirates" did a great job of organizing, and entertaining us all day! Both breakfast and lunch were very good, and they assigned a "personal pirate" to relatively small groups of guests who took care of us (drinks, meals, etc.). IslandBound79 Posted April 3, 2014 #9 Share Posted April 3, 2014 Here are some pictures of the pirate ship from our balcony on the Carnival Miracle! Yes you for sure walk over with the Pirates that meet you at your cruise ship and escort you the two minutes over to the Marigalante as it is docked next to the ship in the Marina. Sucks that Carnival makes it annoying to get the price match guarantee! We got it but had to fight for it! I have a bunch of photos that I will up load from my camera! What email address were you using for them? or do you have a phone number. I just got denied because of the transportation bull.
Ine Posted December 6, 2014 #11 Share Posted December 6, 2014 The contact is on their website: http://pirateshipvallarta.com/ But check the arrival and departure times of your ship and the pirateship, in order not to miss it. Shipstime can be different from local time.
