He said, no problem, he had another beer that I could have. That was very nice of him. Next we went to Shirley Heights. Beautiful views there! SMSACE6 Posted March 10, 2014 #80 Share Posted March 10, 2014 I am loving your review! Im looking forward to another cruise on the Freedom in November, same itin, but with San Juan instead of Tortola. I will be sorry to miss Tortola, but I do like San Juan too. Thanks for posting your review and your photos are great!:)
funinthesun1964 Posted March 10, 2014 Author #81 Share Posted March 10, 2014 More of the tour on Antigua, going on to Nelsons Dockyard After we had some time here to explore, Lawrence offered to take anyone who wanted to go back to this ship, or else go to Valley Church Beach. I think everyone wanted to go to the beach. Lawrence collected the money for his tour here. The beach was beautiful, but I didn't get any pictures. If my friends can share their photos, I will post them later in the review. The six of us ended up going to the restaurant on the beach, wow it was soooo busy. DH and I had some light food, like a couple of appetizers, and before we knew it, it was time to board the bus again to get back to the ship! So we really didn't get to enjoy the beach. Back on the ship, later we went with Bo and Susan, and another couple to the steakhouse for dinner. Sorry, no pictures here either, but again I may share later if I get copies from friends. The steakhouse was very good. I love the extra added service you get. I had the lobster ravioli for my main and DH had a strip steak. (I don't like steak) For dessert, DH had the chocolate sampler and I had the cheesecake. I could only eat about 1/3. DH said some of the chocolate was "too much". I asked DH if that was the best steak he'd ever had, and he said no, but it was good. We are glad we tried the steakhouse once. Not sure if we will go back again, as it was $70, plus we left additional tip. It wasn't all that great IMHO. I believe we went to a show that night, which Susan wanted to see. I do not remember which one it was. We went to bed fairly early, as Tortola - the next day - would be our earliest port day - 7:00!

xxdance8chikxx Posted March 10, 2014 #84 Share Posted March 10, 2014 Here is one of the spa showers. Nice and roomy. Always think to myself that I will shower here, but I never do. Here is a guide of one of the rooms and Bo is a volunteer. haha I know this sounds crazy -- but I love the SMELL of the spa. It always smells so nice and fresh, light fragrance scent. (weird?) LOL, I can smell it now though. Out in the hall on the outside of the spa, they were giving mini-massages. They were trying to get you to book a treatment right then and there though. Sorry for the blur on the photos. I had a mini massage myself, they tested hot stone on my shoulder area/upper back, then tried the bamboo and asked which I liked better. I liked the hot stone. I had won a free hot stone massage on the Pride in the spa raffle, and it was very nice. The only thing, though, it made me feel tired and it was only 10 AM when I had my appointment! It was nice though to have a little mini massage, although none of booked an appointment. And the spa tour was interesting, but I had seen it all before. We are going on the Freedom next week & I have a question~ where/how do you sign up for the workout classes? I am interested in signing up for one... also, how much do they cost per person per class? I am interested in signing up for one... also, how much do they cost per person per class? My husband said the group cycling class was $12 per person. I am not sure about any of the other classes. If you want to sign up for any of the classes, go the spa tour on embarkation day. They will take you through the gym, and if not, go to the gym on your own and ask an employee about the signup sheets.

funinthesun1964 Posted March 11, 2014 Author #87 Share Posted March 11, 2014 Woke up early for Tortola. Had a quick room service breakfast in order to meet our friends in the hall again, to get ready for our day again. We had plans to go to the Baths. Susan had e-mailed Dion, and booked the speed boat to and from Virgin Gorda for $45 a person. The cost included round trip, taxi to the baths upon arrival in Punta Gorda (and back) and refreshment in the boat. I exited my cabin in the morning and saw this  And here are the culprits! funinthesun1964 Posted March 11, 2014 Author #88 Share Posted March 11, 2014 We were early birds this day, we got off the ship and were in search of Dion. There was a pink bus in the port area and Cheri posed for a picture.
funinthesun1964 Posted March 11, 2014 Author #89 Share Posted March 11, 2014 Well, we found Dion, and he told us to wait and just stand there - because he was waiting for some other people to arrive. Well, we waited - and waited - and waited. Here is a view of the ship from where we were standing - just so you know it wasn't all that far. Well, finally another guy came that along - not Dion - but I guess someone that works for him - and he led us to the boat. Well, we were seated...and we waited and waited...and waited some more. We had figured that they were just trying to recruit some more people to go with us...but our boat was pretty well filled anyway? We did have one other woman with us (she was at our roll call too!), but she got aggravated and said "I gave them a half-hour" and she left. After that happened, finally the guy that was with our group got on his phone for a minute, came back to the boat, and we left. We passed by the Freedom on the way there
funinthesun1964 Posted March 11, 2014 Author #90 Share Posted March 11, 2014 We arrive at our destination, Virgin Gorda. It was not that long of a ride, maybe 20-30 minutes at most. The place was beautiful! A little retail/office area of sorts. Another view of the side of the "parking lot" lol A cute little bar area.
funinthesun1964 Posted March 11, 2014 Author #91 Share Posted March 11, 2014 The "taxi" driver was all ready there and waiting to take us to the baths. It was a cute taxi! We arrive at the baths and arrange to have the taxi driver pick us back up at a specific time. He was prompt and waiting for us on the flip side too. No complaints there. Well, upon arrival to the Baths, there is a path to follow until the beach area. Just beautiful! A rock that looks like a face.
Pellaz Posted March 11, 2014 #92 Share Posted March 11, 2014 Really loving the review...sadly my cruise on Freedom won't be going to such exotic ports...but we'll manage. :) Were the aft pool and the jacuzzis adults-only? NCteacherlovescruising Posted March 11, 2014 #94 Share Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) The check in process went very smoothly. A very short line to check in. I'm guessing here, but I believe we arrived at the port around 12:30, somewhere in that area, by the time we met our friends, collected our luggage, got a taxi, and stopped at CVS. We were meeting another couple on board also. We had all met last October on the Pride, and I told them then that I had already booked Freedom for the week of Feb.22 as it was my birthday, and I really wanted to visit Antigua and Tortola (for the baths). So, they followed, I had booked that cruise on the Pride and then gave them my F&F certificates. So we all were cruising together again! Okay, so back to the story - we first went into deck 3 atrium and found the other couple. They allowed us to use their room to store our carry-ons (as it was not 1:30 yet) and they had FTTF. We dropped our stuff in their room, and then we all went to Lido for lunch. DH loves the fish and chips. He and some others indulged in that tasty food and a few of us went elsewhere. But we all met back upstairs near the fish and chips area, as someone in our group had found a table that would accommodate all of us. We were so happy to be there, finally! Bo and Susan Oasis of Seas in Port also DH with funship special Hey! It was so nice meeting all of you!!! We are going on the Freedom again this July. :D Tami Edited March 11, 2014 by TJV123
NCteacherlovescruising Posted March 11, 2014 #95 Share Posted March 11, 2014 By the way, our cabin was 2358, an inside room on deck 2. Room was fine, although it stayed cold all the time! Previously, the thermostat would warm up the room if I turned it over to the room. Not this time, it was cold no matter what I did. Cold if I turned it up, cold if it turned it down. DH also agreed that it was cold, so it wasn't just me. Weird...we were on 2 as well, ocean view on the same side, but our room was always hot. NCteacherlovescruising Posted March 11, 2014 #96 Share Posted March 11, 2014 I am mad too about how Tortola is out! I want to go back, so I may have to cruise with another line in order to get there. That was my favorite place of all time, the Baths! :D The Baths was my all time favorite excursion too! I would love to go back someday!!

When you got to the baths were you able to just carry your bags with you - was that a problem or hassle at all? When you booked the excursion with Dion does that include the cost of the taxi? I can't wait to finish reading your review of the Baths....because as I am typing this I am looking at every option there that I can find for me and my 20 year old son. Thanks :)

They are (or were) on Liberty last year, but I couldn't tell from your pics if it was posted as such on Freedom. I kinda hope so. I am thinking that they were, but you know I wanted to sit back there one day and couldn't find a place. So, didn't stay back there all that long, basically just to walk through, and didn't notice. You know what, I'm thinking from a previous Freedom cruise there was a kid trying to use the back pool and a crew member came to tell them that it was adults only. I'm pretty sure it is adults only. funinthesun1964 Posted March 11, 2014 Author #100 Share Posted March 11, 2014 Weird...we were on 2 as well, ocean view on the same side, but our room was always hot. Isn't that strange?! I think all of our heat went to your room and all of your a/c came into our cabin! I was so cold every time I entered that cabin...I froze! It was like walking into a freezer.
