Booking a car in Kahului? Is it easy?

We will be cruising in Hawaii on Pride of America and will have 2 days in Maui. We want to rent a car there. Is it an easy task? I see that most of the car rental agencies are at the airport, which is about a mile away. Do they cater to the cruise guests? Do they send shuttles to pick you up? Do you get back to the ship quickly and easily? Thanks for any info.

What about the other ports of call in Hawaii? Is renting a car in the other locations simple? Thanks.

We too will be on the POAM .......Most of the car rental agencies have shuttle buses at the ports to the airport...I rented from Budget in Maui and Kaui....and Enterprise in Kona and in Honolulu....used these two because they were the cheapest for what I needed.....Enterprise in Kona is about 3/4 mile from dock....but the lady I spoke to directly in Kona said to just call and they will pick you up.....or you can walk there too....

All of the major rental agencies are on the neighbor islands, and provide shuttle service from the ports to their airport locations. Suggest you check the Hawai`i thread under Ports of Call as this is a perennial topic and there are many, many posts.

Enjoy your holiday.

We just got back and rented with Thrifty on each island. Got a Blue Chip membership (do it online). They had good rates and shuttles at each port. We loved having a car and doing our own thing! Saw a lot more than those in a big group.
