Great Barrier Reef excursion

Hi. Was wondering how deep the water is on the Great Barrier Reef excursion through Carvival? 10 year old swims good, but does not like real deep water. Also, is the water normally rough at the reef.

We were at Shark Ray alley , independent tour, same area I believe where the ship tours go. It had been windy some days before and there was strong current, and the water was over your head in most places except where they fed the sharks and rays.

The water is over your head at the reef. Depending where you go, I've been to areas that were so deep you couldn't see the bottom. I always go independent, but all the are is over your head, except for the "shark ally" mentioned above.

Might be a good idea, especially with your 10 yr old...There was a lady that got in the current soon after getting in the water , and they had to assist her. I think in your case one of the beach snorkels such as Goff's caye would be much better. Hope your 10 yr old has a great time..If I could have experienced anything like that when I was 10 I would have thought I went to heaven...:)
