Great Barrier Reef excursion

The water is over your head at the reef. Depending where you go, I've been to areas that were so deep you couldn't see the bottom. I always go independent, but all the are is over your head, except for the "shark ally" mentioned above.

Might be a good idea, especially with your 10 yr old...There was a lady that got in the current soon after getting in the water , and they had to assist her. I think in your case one of the beach snorkels such as Goff's caye would be much better. Hope your 10 yr old has a great time..If I could have experienced anything like that when I was 10 I would have thought I went to heaven...:)
