Parking in Port of New Orleans

We are driving to New Orleans in October. The last cruise we took on the Conquest we left from the port in Gulfport, MS, so we are not familiar with the parking situation in NO.

We have read alot about the parking at Machu Picchu, but not much about parking at the port. Could anyone who has parked at the port give us information about port parking? Is it close enough to the ship that you can walk to and from the ship, is it covered parking, easy access, how early can you park, etc.?

We would appreciate any information about port parking. Otherwise, it sounds like Machu Picchu parking is the only way to go!

The parking in N.O. is uncovered and fenced. It is two blocks from the terminal. Traffic is a nightmare especially if they are trying to load two ships at the same time. Here is a link to the Port of New Orleans website. Look on the left side of the page for information. http://www.portno.com/default.asp

That is why for our second cruise we are going out of Mobile, AL.

Hi Dave, Thanks for the information, I'm sure we will park off-site. If you want an easy port try La Porte, TX. Easy walking distance from the parking lot to the ship. Next to Galveston, La Porte was definitely the easiest for parking. There is a little more congestion in Galveston but not horrible. Thanks again and enjoy your cruise.:)

You haven't heard much because currently the parking in the actual pier area is in the middle of consturction. They are building a multi-level garage. It is not expected to be completed until December - unless that has been changed.

There is no 'port parking' at the present time. Last reports I read in the N.O. newspaper, the new garage probably won't be completed until early spring.

Manchu Pichu and Fulton St. Garage are your two best bets. Both have shuttle service to and from the cruise terminal, and both are $12 per day, payable in advance.
