Visting Halifax

Recommended Posts

Arriving in Aug. with Canival Truimph.

On a Saturday.

We would like to go on a whale tour for 2 hours.. Then rent a car and drive up to Peggy's Cove and drive around.

Is this possible?? In 6 cruise we have NEVER seen whales, dolphins, nothing.

But I keep hearing around the FOG???? So what do you think????

This is the first cruise we have done with New York and we are really excited.

I just want to make sure we are not bitting off more then we can chew..

Is it possible, depends on when your whale watching tour is. As for the fog, again depending on when you go, this is Nova Scotia and fog is always a possiblity.

If this is your first trip to Halifax, might I make a suggestion. There are whale watching tours which also go to Peggy's cove. This would avoid the need of a rental car.

There's quite abit to see along the waterfront, and on a Saturday it will be hopping (provide the weather's good).

If you check the living in Halifax thread you may find some useful information.

  • 2 weeks later...

I grew up in Lunenburg, my father and father in law went to sea fishing for a living, I lived in the Digby area and now live in halifax past 10 years, and to be brutally honest, Halifax is not a great place to go whale watching. I live here and when I want to go whale watching I go to Briar Island near Digby. The whale watching in the Bay of Fundy is amazing, however you would not be able to do that while docked in Halifax. If you are also going to Bar Harbour or Saint John you would be get much better whale watching options. Just being honest.

Nobody around here locally think of Whale watching when they think of Halifax, even thought there are some tours offered.

Just my opinion and experience
