dr dreamer Posted March 13, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 13, 2014 Thinking booking a 5 night leaving out of Ft. Lauderdale on Satuday before Easter. Can anyone tell me if Celebrity offers Easter Mass on Easter morning on their shorter cruises?
aquaclass Posted March 13, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 13, 2014 It is possible, but not likely. Since you will be in Key West on April 20 (Easter Sunday), docking early in the morning, I would suggest the local Catholic parish in Key West. It looks like they have 7 Masses on Easter. http://keywestcatholicparish.org/
constantcruiser Posted March 13, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 13, 2014 We were aboard a ship a couple of years ago when Easter happened to fall on the first sea day. The Assistant Cruise Director led a beautiful non-denominational service on the deck at sunrise Easter morning. Watching the sun appear over the ocean, surrounded by people of many different faiths, it was one of the most inspiring services I've ever attended. miched Posted March 13, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 13, 2014 Read the FAQ section on Celebrity's website. It addresses this plus a lot of other useful info. 🌅🚢🇺🇸

It would be a much better place to celebrate mass than the ship. And, if you're lucky, Father John Baker, the parish pastor, will say mass. Father Baker is probably the best priest I've ever met. lucinjo Posted March 13, 2014 #6 Share Posted March 13, 2014 For A sailing over Easter they will indeed have a Priest to say Mass. As earlier poster stated, check the Celebrity FAQ for this info. Guest relations should also have info of churches in port.
georgiaguy Posted March 13, 2014 #7 Share Posted March 13, 2014 Many cruises will have a priest on board but especially over the big Christmas and Easter holidays. When I worked on Millenium my room was right across the hall from the priest room and had someone in it almost every cruise.

Celebrity stopped having priests, ministers or rabbi's on board about three years ago. They will only have them on specific religious holidays. Last Easter they had a non-denominational sunrise service on board.
excruiser Posted March 14, 2014 #9 Share Posted March 14, 2014 Last year during Lent on a 12 day cruise we had Mass every day usually in the late afternoon. Pretty well attended.
