campolady Posted March 14, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 14, 2014 (edited) We will be docking in Toulon next month on a Sunday when I expect many places will be closed. Does anyone have some ideas of how to spend our time there? Last time we berthed there we did a trip to Cassis which was wonderful but we would like to see something of Toulon itself on this trip. Many thanks. Edited March 14, 2014 by campolady
joeholiday2 Posted March 14, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 14, 2014 We have the same dilemma Campolady. As you know I have suggested the cable car to you, but that might not be your thing, we loved it though. I fancy Cassis or Aix but DIY seems to be limited on a Sunday, so might do one of the shorex's. The market is very colourful and worth a look around for an hour, and the petit train will be running, you can now take one that goes through the naval base as long as you show them your passport. I will keep researching trains and buses and let you know if anything interesting turns up. This isn't a bad site: http://toulontourisme.com/en/office-de-tourisme/things-to-do/ Joe. campolady Posted March 14, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted March 14, 2014 Thanks Joe - as usual you are so helpful. The cable car sounded great but isn' t practical really due to my husbands health problems. I like the sound of the little trains and the market. Will have a look at the link. Thanks again. Rare mskaufman Posted March 14, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 14, 2014 We were there on a Sunday two years ago and took a trip to Aix. There was enough open to keep us busy for a few hours. Of course, the architecture is always open.
