My wife and I are considering a cruise on the Dream next summer for our 10th anniversary. What are the general opinions of this ship? My wife and I were on the Destiny 3 years ago how does the Dream compare to the Destine? What is it like to sail out of the Port of New Orleans?

Haven't sailed on the Dream, but we have it booked for October. We have sailed out of New Orleans twice and it is wonderful. Sailing down the Mississippi, in my opinion, is something not to be missed. Very enjoyable.

Here is a link to the member reviews section with lots of reviews on the Dream. It seems to have mostly really good reviews. I am booked on the Dream on May 11. I love sailing out of New Orleans, it is a wonderful port and sailing down the Mississippi is really nice. http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/getreviews.cfm?action=ship&ShipID=512

We have sailed both Destiny and Dream. In my opinion, Dream is a much nicer ship. The aft deck was wide open. I found the layout was a bit better. It was also much bigger but never felt crowded. Then there was the Tandoor Indian food-yummy!!!

We booked cabins on the Lido deck. It was so easy to just walk to the pool or the buffet and walk back to the cabin to use our restroom or for something we forgot. Though we have never booked deck 6 on Dream, when we walked around the Lanai (deck 5), we could see into the deck 6 balconies. It was worst at night when the lights were on in the cabins and the curtains were open.

We just sailed the dream in January and had a great time. I do have a review in my signature.

There were plenty of food options and always something to do.

We spent a lot of time in the aft pool area.

The itinerary and price is what sold us. Couldn't beat it.

We went out if port canaveral so I can't comment on New Orleans.

The Dream is my favorite ship out of the 10 I've been on. 3 cruises on the Dream have been my best 3 out of 14 cruises. She has so much to offer! No Guys burgers, but there are burgers. No Blue Iguana burritos, but there is a burrito bar. It has everything, just not the brand names. Dream easily has the best & most entertainment out of all Carnival ships. Great stage shows, especially Dancing in the Streets. I sailed the Dream out of Port Canaveral each time.

I haven't been on Destiny, but I have been on Triumph twice, which is very close in size. Not a sister ship; more of a half-sister. Dream is much better. Less crowded, more food options (pasta bar, lanai BBQ, extra buffet lines, Mexican buffet at one of the deck parties, etc), 2 large waterslides plus some extras for the kids as opposed to Triumph's or Destiny's 1 waterslide.

I sailed New Orleans once, and it had by far the fewest kids & families of all of my cruises. I thought it was odd to put a ship with such a great waterpark in New Orleans, but that will keep the lines for the waterslides very short. But it will also probably increase the food lines. On my one cruise out of New Orleans, the food lines were always very very very long, no matter when you went. On that same ship out of Galveston, the lines were not long at all. Is that typical of New Orleans? I'm not sure, but it was very striking on my sailing.

Have not been on the Destiny or out of New Orleans, but have been on the Dream multiple times;) Awesome ship, love the layout, shows, band, food, ect.. Been in cove balcony, regular balcony, and spa balcony and enjoyed all of them! Never had a complaint.

The Dream is my least favorite of the 3 Dream class ships because it currently doesn't have many of the upgrades that even a Conquest class ship has.

Sailing out of NOLA and down the Mississippi is great, but I also love sailing out of Galveston after having spent several days on the island.

So I would always rather get on the Magic in Galveston.

The Dream is a fantastic ship - lots to do - always something going on - make sure you check out the Blackjack band - they are tops - also the towel animals on Lido deck - every lounges chair has a towel animal - real neat - casino is loads of fun - especially if you win - Main Dining room is good - omelet line is usually busy as well as the Mongolian wok area but worth the wait - sea days they have BBQ on deck 5 - brunch is real good especially the steak and eggs - the plus factor is meeting folks from around the world - have fun
