samchico Posted March 17, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2014 We have a 7am disembark at Vancouver. What would be our earliest, stress free, time for a flight out of Vancouver please? Does the Vancouver ship terminal have luggage storage lockers if we end up catching a later flight etc? TIA Samantha
cruiseryyc Posted March 17, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 17, 2014 Do not book a flight before noon; that gives you plenty of time to disembark the ship, go through Canadian Customs, travel to the airport, go through US Customs (you pre-clear in Vancouver), then through security before getting to your gate of departure. alcpa1 Posted March 18, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 18, 2014 If you are docked at the Pan Am pier you can leave your luggage with the bellman at the Pan Pacific hotel which is above the dock. There is an elevator from the pier to the lobby of the hotel. You can also take the hop on hop off bus from the front of the hotel. Or better yet stay in the hotel and extend your cruise. It's a beautiful hotel in a grand city. I too do not recommend a flight before noon. You go through Canadian checkpoints at the pier and at the airport, if you are flying to the US, you will go through both Canadian security and US security. This frees you from having to go through Customs and Immigration when you land in the US but it will take as long at YVR as it does in any major US airport. The ride by taxi takes about 35-40 minutes via city streets. There is also a train if you can handle your luggage. It's far less expensive and cuts some time off the ride. Have a great cruise. cruiseryyc Posted March 18, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 18, 2014 alcpa1 - to clear up a couple of quotes in your posting: "Pan Am pier" - I think you meant Canada Place pier "US Security" - actually it's not security but US Customes/Immigration
em-sk Posted March 20, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 20, 2014 (edited) Just so you are aware, you have the option of taking Skytrain (Vancouver's subway-metro system) to the airport. Taxi are also an option. The Skytrain - Canada Line has Waterfront Station (aprox. 1 block form the Canada Place terminal) and the Airport as the two terminals for the line. The other thing to point out, is you pre-clear US Customs when you board your direct flight to the US. For example, if your flying Vancouver to Toronto then connecting onto a US bound flight, you will clear US customs in Toronto.
