Ken Greco Posted March 17, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2014 RCCL's travel insurance only gives you 75% back on what you paid for the cruise and it only for credit for a next cruise. Has anyone bought travel insurance that will pay you cash back in case you have to cancel your cruise?

Royal's insurance will give you cash back if the cancellation reason is one of their covered reasons. They only give the 75% credit back if you cancel for a non-covered reason. GTO-Girl Posted March 17, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 17, 2014 (edited) RCCL's travel insurance only gives you 75% back on what you paid for the cruise and it only for credit for a next cruise. Has anyone bought travel insurance that will pay you cash back in case you have to cancel your cruise? Have you checked http://www.insuremytrip.com? You put in your trip costs and it will give you a list of companies to compare. If you any questions about any of the policies give them a call....they have great customer service! We never purchase our trip insurance through the cruiseline because we find better coverage for less money through this website Edited March 17, 2014 by GTO-Girl
Ken076 Posted March 17, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 17, 2014 (edited) RCCL's travel insurance only gives you 75% back on what you paid for the cruise and it only for credit for a next cruise. Has anyone bought travel insurance that will pay you cash back in case you have to cancel your cruise? That's only partly true. If you cancel for a reason covered in the Policy then you get a refund. Only if you cancel for reasons not covered in the Policy (Cancel for Any Reason) do you get a CREDIT for 75%. The tradeoff is that this coverage is included in the Policy premium; most 3rd party policies charge 50% added premium for Cancel for any Reason and most 3rd party policies policies you have to purchase within 14-21 days of booking - with these policies you do get a refund, ranging from 50% to 90% depending on which policy and when you're cancelling. You need to carefully read and compare and understand the Cancel for Any Reason coverage in 3rd party policies. ken Edited March 17, 2014 by Ken076

Has anyone bought travel insurance that will pay you cash back in case you have to cancel your cruise? We had to cancel 6 cruises during October 2013 and January 2014. What wasn't refunded back to our credit card from RCI was included in a claim to Berkeley. When all was said and done we received a full refund for all cruises less the cost of insurance. Clarea Posted March 17, 2014 #9 Share Posted March 17, 2014 What is Berkeley? Berkeley is the insurance company Royal uses for their "CruiseCare" insurance.

One advantage to the above is a policy that will cover pre-existing conditions if purchased within 15 days of booking.
