Carnival VIFP Status

I have a question concerning Carnival's VIFP point system. I am a gold status member, however on my next cruise I will obtain enough point to get to platinum. This will not occur until my final cruise day. Will I be considered Platinum at the beginning of my cruise or will I have to wait until I hit the 75 days? I hope that made sense.

Unless they changed it if you turn Platinum ON the cruise then you will be Platinum for the whole cruise~

ETA~ Found this under FAQ's in the VIFP section~

Notwithstanding the foregoing, in the event a Member books a Cruise in which such Member will attain the necessary VIFP Points to reach a new Level during or by the end of such Cruise (a “Crossover Cruise”), CCL may, in its sole discretion, offer such Member the Benefits offered to Members of the higher Level during the Crossover Cruise.

You will be considered Platinum at the start of your next cruise after you qualify so this cruise will be gold.

This isn't correct......

If you turn Platinum any time during this cruise your documents, luggage tags and card will be Platinum.

Enjoy!!!

  • 2 weeks later...

When you print your luggage tags if they say 'Priority' on them you will be Platinum. I thought you needed 77 days to become platinum- or is that gold? And, we are Diamond and have had out luggage at our cabin door by noon! (You need 200 days to be Diamond.) When you give your luggage to the porter, they will put wide orange tape on your bags if you are Platinum so everyone will handle your bags fast and first.

Platinum is 75 days. As others have said your cruise documents should say Priority and you will check in via the VIP lounge.

Hopefully when you say you reach Platinum on the last day of the cruise you mean the day before you go home. Debarkation day is not actually counted as a day.
