On board future cruises Reduced Deposits & OBC

Recommended Posts

While we were on the Navigator last June we were invited to pay a reduced deposit which also offered some on board credit for any future cruise.

Because we had a bad experience and lots of issues with the TA who we had previously booked the Navigator cruise with, we certainly did not want to book any future cruises with them, and we were ensured by the Rccl future cruise rep that we could book any future cruise with them or any TA of our choice.

Now back the UK we are booking a cruise on an Indy with our usual TA of choice, and while in the travel shop our agent had to confirm our prepaid deposit and on board credit with Rccl, and because we have no UK contacts now you automatically get put through to the Miami office, who confirmed that our deposit had been received by them.

But now the trouble started, they told our agent that in order for them to honour the our pre paid deposit and give us the on board credit we would have to book the Indy cruise through the agent that booked us on the Navigator which appears to be Royals choice agents.

Our agent spent more than one hour on the tel speaking to several Rccl personal trying to get the problem solved. It seems that the us RCCL people were reading off a script and would not budge!

And my wife had to speak very strongly on the tel to them to make them understand that we would as customers not book through their choice agent and that we would not book this cruise or indeed any future cruises unless they sorted this problem out.

It seems that the jobs worth Rccl Miami person would only recognise the ABTA number from the original navigator agent!! and would not change to our agents ABTA number, and said that we as customers had to speak to the original agent!, after a lot of fuss and aggravation from us Rccl finely changed the number.

This kind of treatment is not what we expect from Royal.

So be warned that if you want to pre pay on board deposit make sure that you have it writing that you can book with who "you" want.!!!
