Snorkeling San Juan Help

All,

We have from 0800 - 1600 in San Juan. Looking for some good places to snorkel for a few hours? We have our own gear just will need to catch a cab.

I don't consider San Juan as an ideal place for snorkeling. There is a bridge prior to crossing over into OSJ that has a few fish. This would be a quick cab ride.

I agree. You would need to take an excursion (on a catamaran) to get to good snorkeling. We stayed in San Juan for a vacation and went to Culebra on a catamaran for the day. I think the day started at 9 AM, and we got back around 5 PM.

 

San Juan is more of a city walking or rainforest type of place if you're in port for the day and want to do something on your own.

I have heard of this. What is that area called? We would take a taxi there and need to tell the driver where to go.

It's Playita de Condado ... on the east end of Tres Hermanos bridge in Condado.

Another place is Balneario Escambron ... there is some so-so snorkeling around the fringing reef ... we've seen octopus, barracuda, and some small reef fish.
