deedeetoo Posted March 26, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 26, 2014 Does anyone have any experience with this? My mother has difficulty standing for long periods. Last year we had a really odd experience with muster and I'm hoping not to repeat it again so I'd like some advice. Here is what happened last year: When we got to our muster station we asked if there was anywhere for my mom to sit. They told us there was another muster drill in the casino for people who couldn't stand. The person at our muster station scanned her card and then waived down someone and told them to take us inside. They passed us to someone else, who passed us to someone else. Eventually, someone opened a door on the side of the ship that is not normally a passenger door and told us to go in. My mom and i found ourselves inside the casino in the middle of a bunch of slot machines. We had no idea what we were supposed to do there. We sat down in front of the machines thinking that someone would come by and get us or tell us where to go but that didn't happen. There were a few employees that passed us but they just walked by without saying anything. Since they didn't tell us to go somewhere else we figured we must be in the right place. We sat there for a fairly long time with nothing happening. We thought maybe it was just late getting started. Finally, we decided that this was just weird and went back outside and found our muster station again. The muster drill was just about over. So my mom, who was a first time cruiser, completely missed the muster drill. Obviously something went wrong here. Where were we supposed to go? Does anyone know? Was there really a muster drill in the casino and we just didn't find it? Maybe we should have wandered around inside looking for something? I'm just trying to avoid a repeat of this this year. Moms cabin is not right next to ours this year so I'm sure we will be at different muster stations. it would be nice to be able to bring her where she needs to go before I go to my muster station. chickadee1 Posted March 26, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 26, 2014 My last cruise, everyone's Muster station was somewhere inside! Could this be because we were leaving Bayonne, NJ a few days after Sandy decimated the area? I don't know! I too have a hard time standing and definitely appreciated having Muster in a bar with plenty of seating!
deedeetoo Posted March 26, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted March 26, 2014 Our experience was on Freedom of the Seas. I didn't realize that they did it differently on different ships.

Yes, this is exactly what you can do. Take her to hers first (early check in is OK), and then proceed to yours. Tell her not to move until you come back for her. The Assembly Drill is different on each ship; as stated, some are entirely inside, and some are at the muster stations on deck.
