Everything.. ESCAPE (live 29 Oct 2015!)

Recommended Posts

Summary.

Within the haven there is an elevator that services the 3 haven decks 17,18,19.

(probably a service one in the area as well)

The forward elevators service up to deck 19 public sun deck.

Aft access to the rope course is via external stair lift on port side.

On top of the elevators it shows which floors they go to. The port elevators go to 18 and one of them is marked that it goes to 19, we used that for Vibe. It does not have it's own call button though.

Unrelated question |: I read on another forum that you can rent a cabana in the vibe? What are the benefits and how much is it? Worth it?

Did not see any cabanas in Vibe on Escape. Only one hot tub. Different from Getaway.

No clue about Richard. All I know is he is HD on Epic

Thanks for the info. Will he be on Epic for awhile or going on vacation? I enjoyed sailing with him in the past. He's a great HD. Guess the rumor about him coming to Escape was just that.

You mentioned before that Sean would be on vacation sometime in January. Do you know who his replacement will be?

I've been reading a lot of people complaining about the large groups of travel agents on this past cruise and their conference taking over the ship. Does anyone know if there are any large groups on our 11/28 sailing?

I was on the last escape cruise. The TAs were a munor inconvenience at a very few times. A couple of venues booked at a time that was not a big deal. In other ways it was a godsend, during the day the were at meetings which left more public space for the rest of us

There were a lot of travel agents on board our cruise, but it didn't bother me. Most of the places they had their "classes" were venues that wouldn't have been open during those hours anyway, such as the specialty restaurants during the morning/afternoon hours, etc. If you weren't aware of those places typically being closed during the day, then it probably did look like the agents were taking over everything. lol

I was still able to see "For The Record" not once but twice (making last minute reservations no less), and both of the other shows as well. Maybe my experience would have been different if I had been unable to get in to see the shows.

Yeah you don't like to sit near smoke while you gamble your family's fortune away. Like I said on my last Cruise, casino at sea members don't get free Cruise you have to lose sufficient amount of money before they start getting anything so they pay for the cruise with the money they lose.

Actually you're wrong. I've won quite a bit and still get free offers. I also get free offers from land based casinos(non-smoking ones at that) where I come out ahead.

You're pretty quick on the attack of non-smokers. You use your "fortune" to smoke, why can't non-smokers gamble?

If the casino is 50/50 then I think smokers can stay in their area and leave the other part to those who don't enjoy it. It only seems fair.

I appear to be the last person in America without a Facebook account. That being said, is there any way for someone to copy them and post them here as well? Thanks in advance for your help.

You are not alone. I'm right with you. I don't have and don't want a Facebook account. I enjoy having the focused information found here on CruiseCritics.:)

Great photo, thanks! I do know there are elevators that go above deck 17 but I was specifically talking about IN the Haven.

Reading down I see others have answered but I did want to respond to you that I liked your photo!

If someone is in the Haven on deck 18 is there an elevator there to take them down to deck 17 or any other lower decks or do they need to take the stairs to deck 17 and then take an elevator.

The deck plans show an elevator on deck 17 right outside of the Haven, however, when one looks at deck 18 there is no elevator - which makes me think those on deck 18 need to use the stairs to get to an elevator since there is not one on deck 18 but is one on deck 17. If that's the case, and I might be totally wrong that it is the case, why would there be a HC cabin on deck 18. And... the HC cabin on deck 17 would need to use the stairs to get to the Haven restaurant?

Anyone been in the Haven that can enlighten me?

Thanks!

Harriet

Harriet,

There is an elevator within the Haven itself. It will take you from the Haven deck 17 lounge/concierge area up to deck 18 cabins and restaurant and up again to deck 19 Haven's upper loungers and outdoor area (which on Escape has a rather nice hot tub).

Note that the only restroom for the Haven is on deck 17 so if you're dining you have to go down one floor.

I found service in the Haven restaurant slow no matter what meal. One day I was one of only four people there for lunch and it took 40 minutes for my sandwich to arrive.

The bright, shining star in the Haven is bartender Marc McArthur, a master mixologist and true cocktail artist. It's rare that I hang out in the Haven bar but on the TA and inaugural, my son and I spent many hours watching Marc handcraft some of the best tasting cocktails we have ever had. Trust me, if you are into cocktails, don't pass up the opportunity to watch Marc in action.

I posted my review of the TA here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2278521

Working on my review of the Inaugural November 14 cruise and will post as soon as possible.

I will say this however: I do not love this ship. I wanted to love her, I really did, but don't think I will sail on her again. I didn't care for Bayamo at all, Food Republic is constantly running out of items, Tapas Bar I got a HUGE bone the size of a knuckle in my duck confit and cracked a tooth, twice in Teppanyaki there was blatant cross-contamination (which I reported), and more (just have to check my notes).

The other highlight for me was For the Record. An amazing show with a talented cast. Unfortunately the night that we went there was a table of inebriates behind us talking very loudly throughout the entire show and drunk enough that they were trying to interact with the cast when they went out into the audience.

Sorry if I missed this (was cruising the last 12 days), but for the folks returning, what are they using as a DJ dance club at night since starting service in the Caribbean? Is it just Spice H20, or are they using any indoor venues?

The trick as on the other ships is to take the first one that comes as high as they go.

The up buttons then call the correct one.

I have yet to find a ship with good elevator scheduling.

Quite obvious, once you know it LOL. Was thinking how luck would work your way to catch the one to deck 19. :D
