sjbdtz Posted November 24, 2015 #6526 Share Posted November 24, 2015 So - this is a little disappointing for those of us looking for H6 info. :o I asked to join the Escape page discussed here - and then posted that I was in search of information or photos of 9318. I got a response....I have asked if she has photos she's wiling to share. "That was my Cabin from Hamburg-Miami . It is nothing like 9916 or 9316 on the GA or BA. First, the balcony is much smaller (less than half the size) and there is much less furniture on the Escape balcony. The living area is more narrow and there is too much furniture in the smaller space. The sofa is near the window. The bedroom is a bit larger, and it has a door to the balcony. The bathroom does not have a jetted tub or have windows. The second bathroom is the same size." So I asked if it was not as deep as the -Aways, because from the best photo I've seen it seems to be about the same length. This was her response... "No, not as wide either. There was another open-able divider built that opens to the B1 next to it. I will try to get you some pictures." Guess we will see. But, sad to say - this might be the end of the H6's for us. It was the balcony that made it so special! :( The balcony was still not bad. Table for 4, coffee table with 2 chairs, and a lounger...with space to move around. When the official pics go up, that was our cabin. They asked us if they could photograph it for NCL marketing. We agreed. Stephen .

But...there is something really special about the balcony for the -Away aft suites. This was the the first "first hand report" that I had seen - so I thought I'd share. ;) Do you have any photos you could share?? The bed by the balcony lpayout is new to us - since the Aft Penthouses on 9 for the GA and BA are the bath by the balcony layout - and I'm curious about what it actually looks like! happy cruzin Posted November 24, 2015 #6530 Share Posted November 24, 2015 Are you sure that is deck 9? (It looks like deck 10)That picture seems less deep than deck 14. http://www.cruisetricks.de/bilder/albums/Norwegian-Escape/Kabinen-Suiten/kabinen-haven-penthouse-14300-7177-norwegian-escape.jpg Nope - not sure!! HarpHarp Posted November 24, 2015 #6532 Share Posted November 24, 2015 How much live music was there? Daytime at the pool? At night for dancing? Lot's of live music both places. There was a D.J. at the pool some times. Dancing in the Manhattan, Skyline, 5'Oclock & atrium at different times.
Two Wheels Only Posted November 24, 2015 #6533 Share Posted November 24, 2015 Nope - not sure!! I'm only going by what she said she she posted it :o The pictures that I have give the indication that deck 9 is the deepest followed by deck 12. (attached photo) Looking at this pic... https://scontent-ams2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfp1/t31.0-8/11053709_1031552776855591_6081615894905923047_o.jpg ..it seems like deck 9 is deeper than what she posted. motleyfan Posted November 24, 2015 #6534 Share Posted November 24, 2015 There was lots of live music all over, the balconies were great, all the shows were great and the ship itself is a lot of fun. IMHO this is a ship that is so awesome that you have to really look for things to complain about. In one of the reviews a lady complained that they would not cut her grapefruit for her lol. bucade Posted November 24, 2015 #6535 Share Posted November 24, 2015 Am I missing something when it comes to balconies? I've seen a lot of questions, complaints and comments about them and I guess I didn't realize that they were that big of an importance. We have a balcony cabin booked for Feb and truth be told we've rarely even gone out on them on past cruises. The ship to us is one big balcony. Not being a smart you know what, I really am wondering what I'm missing?

We have a balcony cabin booked for Feb and truth be told we've rarely even gone out on them on past cruises. The ship to us is one big balcony. Not being a smart you know what, I really am wondering what I'm missing? It's mostly the aft-facing balconies that are in question. They differ in size/depth depending on which deck you are on. On BA/GA, the sizes are known (from deepest to least deep) but on Escape, the sizes don't match up to BA/GA. We have been trying to gather the information so that the information is known like it is on BA/GA. For the H6 rooms, we know the configurations (A vs B) which also don't exactly match BA/GA but they are now known. It is the depths that are the only question for aft-facing. For the "side" balconies, there are "angle balconies", "secret balconies" and "standard balconies" all in the same "B" stateroom class. They vary in size even though they are the exact same price. That's not even including the other "B" staterooms. We are trying to gather information that can't be seen from the deck-plans. For example, looking at the rear-most balconies on the side, you can see that some are much longer/wider than others. http://www.depping-design.de/test/albums/2015_09_escape_conveyance/1500K3__0837.jpg

Thank you Stephen. My husband has the Lavazza at our house and the Nespresso at our office. We us an attachment that can be purchased by Nespresso to froth the milk for cappuccino. I think I'll pack it for the cruise as I don't drink espresso but do like a cappuccino. Harriet
Peripatos Posted November 25, 2015 #6543 Share Posted November 25, 2015 Our friends had the aft haven suite 9196 (port corner suite) for the both the Hamburg to South Hampton and then on to Miami cruise. We were next door for the fist two days in 9194. They love the same aft suite on the Away ships and have sailed in it many times before, but they were totally disappointed at how the cut back the balcony, room size and especially how they changed the bathroom on the Escape. They definitely will not do the Escape again, only the Getaway aft haven suites.

The bathroom configuration that they like is on Escape (decks 11 and 14) but the balcony is obviously smaller than deck 9 on GA and deck 9 on Escape. If they like huge balcony with the bathroom configuration that they prefer, their choices are BA/GA deck 9 or BA/GA deck 12. HaraldOslo Posted November 27, 2015 #6547 Share Posted November 27, 2015 We stayed at the Intercontinental Miami last week for 1 night for an event. Had a PERFECT view of the ships, room was amazing and staff incredible. Perfect location to walk to the outdoor mall too (bayside I think).. highly recommend. I concur, have stayed at this hotel as well. Great view to the port, Starbucks and Alamo car rental in the lobby. Found a great secret hotel deal at LMT
buckeye rob Posted November 27, 2015 #6548 Share Posted November 27, 2015 (edited) I guess I don't get the problem with the size of the aft Penthouse balconies. We have an Escape aft PH deck 11, the version with the bath and shower by the balcony. The balcony size and depth appears fine. What does one need ? I don't plan on having a cocktail party or reception out there. What are your other choices ? Forward PHs have a very small side balcony, same with most of the Havens. The only other larger balconies unless I am mistaken are the Owners and Deluxe Owners Suites. Also with an aft PH you have aft and side views. Not a big deal to me about aft PH balcony size. :) Gerry Edited November 27, 2015 by buckeye rob

Different things are important to different people. I have an Aft PH booked on the BA in May, and then on the Escape in Dec, so I'll be able to compare first hand. I also wasn't able to fall in love with the BA Aft PH before finding out about the Escape. :D One thing, I specifically booked the deck 9 Aft PH on the Escape because of the overhang. I was hoping that almost regardless of the angle of the sun, we'd have shaded areas on our balcony since we all prefer the shade. Seeing many of the pictures out there it doesn't look like we'll get that.
