Just found this post - Called and booked a 2 bedroom Haven Villa and got the 4 packages included in my price for Thanksgiving week on the Escape - Can't wait to read all the post to learn more! Also looking forward to this Haven as I've been in the Haven on both the Breakaway and Getaway to compare

Yesterday, two blocks for Escape's bow were delivered to Meyer Werft via the River Ems. The blocks weigh 400 and 480 tons. See a photo and a video here

 

And then, Lloyd got a photo from the minions showing the bridge for Norwegian's newst vessel:

Some factual dates, with a sparkle of speculation:

 

Breakaway:

Steel cutting Sep 21, 2011

Keel laying May 4, 2012

Float out Feb 26, 2013

Delivery Apr 25, 2013

Total build time to delivery: 18 months

 

Getaway:

Steel cutting May 4, 2012

Keel laying Oct 30, 2012

Float out Nov 2, 2013

Delivery Jan 10, 2014

Total build time to delivery: 22 months

 

Escape:

Steel cutting March 20, 2014

Keel laying Aug/Sept? 2014 (when Royal's Quantum of the Seas will float out) actual: Sept 19 2014.

Float out summer? 2015

Delivery Aug/Sept? 2015

Total build time to delivery: 18 months

 

Bliss:

Steel cutting Sept? 2015

Keel laying Feb? 2016

Float out Jan? 2017

Delivery spring 2017

Total build time to delivery: 18 months?

 

I hope all dates/months are correct.

 

Let's see if we were right a few months ago; Getaway took 12 months from keel laying to float out. Would the Escape float out be in mid July then it took Meyer just 10 months to construct the blocks, as fast as they constructed Breakaway. Sea trials of Escape are in August is my guess.

Nice guess, but no. Escape will stay in Papenburg until mid September. Delivery will be around October 18.

Great photo! It really shows off how much straighter Escape's bridge will be compared to her sisters. This is an improvement that will vastly improve the practicality of the space.

The curve on Breakaway and Getaway limits visibility. As you can see, the staggered stanchions block the view.

It's so much more fun to stalk a ship when you're booked on it ..... so we booked the Escape today for Jan 30th. We loved the Getaway and it looks like Escape will be as good or better. Our daughter will be joining us for her first cruise (not counting the time she spent on the USS Salvor). We booked a port side angled spa balcony - maybe there will be room for 3 chairs. I told Larry instead of casino time we'll do spa time. The casino on Getaway was only thing we didn't care for - no fun penny machines and those we did play did not pay. Didn't take long to lose our gambling $$'s.

 

I hemmed and hawed this weekend over whether to book or not to book. Finally decided Sunday night and the system kept freezing up ... about half way through got bumped out and although it was only 9:00 here and still Sunday it was Monday in Miami and the 3rd passenger freebie was over. Decided to just let it go and keep watching prices but today...couldn't stand it and went ahead and booked. Used the PCC who's been writing us for many months for the first time. She told me to watch the pricing and if it drops (not due to a new promotion) we can reprice the cruise but not change the booking date so the Ult Bev Package would not be lost. We're ok with what we paid so either way it's fine but less $'s out would help pay airfare.

I couldn't really comment as I'm generally not fussed about the entertainment onboard anyway, and I can't even remember what will be on the Escape, but there was a thread on here just after it was all announced where people were saying how disappointed they were with the entertainment, so not everyone agrees with you.

Happy Happy Day. Thanks to today's promo change we were able to reprice our Escape cruise to just port fees and taxes for 3rd passenger and retain our Spa balcony with Beverage Package promo. Saved us $699 :)

 

Check your pricing .. only takes a couple minutes.
