Craps "Free Odds" bets?

I've never played Craps before, so it's all pretty new to me. I'm looking for a game with a small house edge, and I've heard Craps is a good choice. Does anyone know if NCL allows free odds bets? What are the restrictions?

Yes double odds are accepted. If you have a $5.00 line bet you can double the free odds (or behind the line) bet. IE: 4 & 10 would pay $25.00. 5 for the line & double for your $10 free odds bet thus paying $20.00 for it. A total of $25.00.

It is a bet you should ALWAYS make as there is no house edge!

5 & 9 pay 1 & 1/2 to one; & 6 & 8 pay 7 to 6. Good luck!

Not true. An odds bet in Craps is a bet with no house odds. When the odds bet is places both the house and the player are each looking for 1 number.

Odds bets on a Pass Line bet are free. NCL (on the Epic) only had $10 Craps tables, and 3,4,5x odds.

 

3x on the 4 or 10, 4x on the 5 or 9, and 5x on the 6 or 8.

 

Always play the maximum Odds or you are throwing your money away. It is the best bet in the casino.

 

It also means that you have to be willing to play up to $60 a hand which is a bit pricey for a lot of people. A $5 minimum would make the game much more inviting.

His statement is true, because you can't *get* to Odds Bet scenarios without going through the initial rolls, bringing your total odds down to a house advantage. If you could just put down a Pass + Odds when you walked up to the table even if a number was on the board, then yes, that would be best bet any Casino ever offered.

oops I made a mistake on 6 & 8 odds. They pay 6 to 5 behind the line. (there are 6 ways to make a 7; & 5 ways to make a 6 or 8 thus it pays 6 to 5 with no house edge.:)

More of a NLH type of guy and when I play a game I don't need to think about I play either let it ride or roulette. last NCL cruise I walked up to the roulette table and put $25 on numebr 14. BINGO I win... Took my winnings and left teh $25 chip for the dealer.

My suggestion is before you play go online and understand how to play. The odds bet is the best bet on the craps table because your getting true odds. But the house has the advantage no matter which way you bet. Some times the advantage is less because of the odds bet.

Why are you talking about sample size? You're not running an experiment to determine the odds or cause and effect of an unknown. The parameters of the game are known. Simply calculate the odds of 35 consecutive losing bets (37/38)^35 = 0.393 = 39.3% That means there's a 60.7% chance of winning at least once (making your money back) or more (coming out ahead). Therefore, there's less than a 40% chance you can lose $35 during the run. At $1 per spin, it works out pretty nicely. At $10 a spin, it would be too rich for my blood.

You can just walk up to a table after the point is established and place your bet on the Pass line and take odds. It's the Don't Pass where you can't place a bet after the point is established.

According to the rules of crap you cant play the pass line after the point is established. But on cruise ships Ive seen it done. and nobody says anything. But in Lost Vegas they will not let you do that. But you can place a bet anytime you want.

You're welcome. The reason they let you do it is once the point's established, the odds are in the casino's favor. Before the point is established, the pass line is statistically in the player's favor as you win on a seven.

Same as a traditional pass line bet. Even odds. But you can take odds behind the put bet just like the pass line bet. They operate the same way just have slightly different terminology.

I know Vegas is very different from AC where I've worked and now Maryland, but we don't let them come down on the pass after a point is established. We treat it as a place bet. I can't remember how it was on ships I've been on, since it's stuck in my head of not coming down late so I've never tried.

This is the best advice so far. Learn how to play before worrying about anything else. I now how to play and reading all these responses is just making my head spin.:eek:

I contacted NCL's casino people and they claim that they have tables with a $5 minimum and offer 3x-4x-5x odds bets. Can anyone confirm for the breakaway?

Yes, Blackjack until you add the auto shuffler that all the low limit tables use....Changes the game completely. I used to love it. Now I'm a craps player....
