supersecdd Posted March 30, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 30, 2014 We have never done a cruise excursion on the day the cruise ends. We are wondering whether to take the Celebrity excursion ($308.00 total for 2) after our cruise from Harwich to the inside of Buckingham Palace, then we get dropped off at Victoria Rail Station and would get a taxi to our London hotel. Or is all that too much trouble for 2 Americans in our '60's and too little time in the Palace perhaps and we should just get a car service from Harwich to our London hotel (car service might be less money than the Celebrity excursion-I'm checking)? John Bull Posted March 31, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 31, 2014 Most folk take the train from Harwich to central London. The station (Harwich International) is right alongside the ship. Costs about £32, takes about 90 minutes. Train takes you to Liverpool Street station, from there a cab would be the best bet to your hotel. Hourly service, more frequent around 8am. Some are direct, most involve a very simple change of train at Manningtree (you just cross to the other side of the same platform). NB the change when travelling in the opposite direction - London to Harwich - is more difficult with luggage as it involves stairs. http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ Sorry, can't help re inside visits to Buck' Pal. This UK cruisers' board is quite slow, you're likely to get a better response if you post your question on the Ports-of-Call, Britain board, http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=233 JB :)
