Does any one actually do this?

Getting ready for another cruise and as my imagination takes over I wonder does anyone ever on a consistent basis go to the shows after dinner then the late night comedy, then disco or casino or piano bar staying up till 2 or 3 then getting up early to watch the sun rise or just hang out on the empty early morning deck. Perhaps whale watching or just enjoying a cup of joe. I want to do this but I doubt the body(mine) is capable.

I love to be up to see the Sunrise or walk around the ship in the early mornings before most people get out of bed on a day or two but I don't do that every day. I can no longer stay up late and do like to sleep in. My days for late nights and early mornings are past.:(

Don't do the comedy shows, but I do go to the bars/club and I do stay up till the wee hours. But I do that at home too (on weekends). :D I do not however, get up to watch the sunrise. I am not a morning person.

for me I am up at 5 each morning even if I can sleep in ..6:30 is the latest and that's with going to bed at 2 a.m. Oh how I wish it were different...I do on occasion take naps and that of course helps.

I love getting up early on board the ship! A cup of coffee, a mostly empty deck and the sunrise is a great way to start the day. Unfortunately, I'm not the nightowl I once was and can't stay up to those wee hours any more.

I was able to do the first part when I was in my 20s and 30s, and can only do the last part now. But I LOVE watching those sunrises in the morning, as well as a quiet ship, and watching it slowly awake as the morning progresses.

Yup, I can totally do it for a few days, although unlike in my early 20's, I now need copious amounts of coffee to help myself along. I always stayed up late and got up early on each day of my cruise. Too many fun things going on at all hours of the day, and I usually get a second wind around 11:00 PM anyway. I can't say it didn't catch up to me. By debarkation, I was in dire need of recovery days to catch up on sleep. But it's worth it!

Nope, I can't do it anymore. I can go to a few shows, and people watch outside the clubs, but then I must sleep. Occasionally, I'll even get up before sunrise to watch from my balcony. But, getting up early is not after a late night. LOL

I never did get the early risers, I've never been one. It's generally a later time zone for me on a cruise, since I'm on the west coast, so it's always going to be 2-3 hours later, which means 7 am is really 4-5 for me. I don't wake up until 8 am even during the work week, let alone on vacation.

Hawaii, however, I can get up early and watch a sunrise, since Hawaii is 2-3 hours earlier than my home time zone. But only for the first few days, then I adjust and force myself to sleep in.

We do it at least once per cruise. The secret is to take a nap late in the afternoon, around 3:00pm or so, and get up in time to get ready for dinner (we always do late seating). The hardest part will be after the club, casino, piano bar, etc. closes, and you try to find something to do to keep you busy, but cards/games, pizza, coffee and conversation on the Lido with others helps a lot.

My wife & I ( both in mid 60's ) do enjoy the casino, a few adult beverages and staying up past midnite while on a cruise. We haven't gone to any shows although watching karaoke provides both humor and entertainment. :D We both get up around 6am, order room service coffee/breakfast and sit on the balcony enjoying the quiet and calm ocean views. We have mellowed somewhat but that is to be expected after what our bodies endured when we were "kids" ;)

We have a routine similar to this but just has us at the casino then early dining then going to the show then possibly the adult comedy if it isn't too packed in there. Still back to bed by 11 at the very latest and up early to sit on the balcony and watch the sunrise over the water. Still need my solid 8 hours at least so most nights we are in by 10.

Kind of--we go to dinner, sometimes to a shoe, but if not, we hit the piano bar. We go to bed in the wee hours and DH sleeps in until 8 or 9. Sometimes I wake up before dawn, slip out to the balcony, watch the sun rise, then go back to bed.

For guys over 50 "wee hours" may have a significantly different meaning.

That is me too! I love early mornings on deck with the first Coffee of the day (why does that first cup always taste the best?) - saw Dolphins each morning at around 6.30 last cruise which was amazing.

Early Dinner followed by first show.

Bed by 11 p.m. (have never seen the Disco open let alone danced there).
