  1. My recent carnival experience, in the end of a 5 day sailing I had 12k in w2g’s and 7K in points. Not once was I greeted by a casino host much less offered an in sailing comp. At end of cruise received an ocean view room on specific sailings with only charge tax and port fees. Personally not impressed. Of course as a casino winner I am anxious to sail Carnival again but will not do so without a decent comp over, for me that would include free balcony and some free play. jgb
  2. Yes just off the miracle arrived at the port and the parking lot was coned off, no opportunity to park, a very friendly gate keeper informed us that there were 2 cruise ships out and that the lot was full. We were given directions to the convention center. I dropped off our bags and proceeded to the convention center, less then 10 minutes. I had to pay 6 days ($120) to enter the lot. Parked and a shuttle was waiting to take us to the ship, total time less than 25 minutes. This was at 11 in the morning. Returning had a bit of a wrinkle. There were busses waiting for us and we stored our luggage in the bus however the driver took us to the wrong location!!! Probably 15 minutes waisted, really no big deal but at the end of the cruise we just wanted to get home. Anyway when we arrived at the proper location my wife waited with the luggage on the sidewalk while I got the car(roof parking) from there it was a to b. Hope this helps jgb
  3. I just returned from the 5 day Miracle sailing and there was a significant cross section of Americana. From bikers to bankers, men and women of all stripes. I rarely have an opportunity to get up close and personal with some of these individuals. Having bellied up to the craps table and betting on the right side of the dice I with several others who were covered in paint we hooped and hollered as the dice held for quite a lengthy period, everyone made money! I am as white as can be so there was an obvious contrast. Later on, on the Lido deck I was desperately looking for a table for my wife and I when one of my fellow shooters invited me to join him and his wife. For the next hour we had the best time sharing realities. OK but also On the same cruise during trivia we sat with a family who had a senior analyst at UBS, again great conversation and perspective. Well done to Carnival they must be doing something right. JGB
  4. On embarkation day where is the best place to sit and relax and do a good deal of people watching jgb
  5. Question….on embarkation does Carnival require you to park at the Long Beach convention center no matter how early one arrives, and what is that process like?
  6. Doing the 3 day out of Long Beach. Can I use my REAL ID instead of pass port or birth cert? thank you
  7. Kanyon 71 I LOVE everything about cruising except for the last day at sea. For some reason , which I have never been able to understand I am melancholy. It is the oddest thing, I wake up and after breakfast and a second cup of joe I am sad and just wish I was home. Weird I know but there it is. JGB 9 days and definitely counting!!
  8. Apparently there may be a new breed of cruiser. Back in the day there were frequent posts “doc dance”. This was when one received their documents in the mail. Then when the internet became the form of communication the doc dance celebration transformed into “single digits” in the countdown to cruise day. Now I see none of the above, I am sure people are just as excited but are somehow expressing it differently. jgb 10 days till cruise day

  11. If currently embarkation times are pushed back does the ship leave port later than the scheduled time of 4:30
  12. Curious as to what the buy in is for bingo, say 5 cards plus the dopper
  13. I too am platinum 11:30 sounds good what time did you leave Cabo?
  14. Apparently recent engine problems
  15. Question is the Panorama continuing to be late to home port and thus late to sail away? If so how late to arrive and how late to sail away
  16. I have taken this itinerary many times, including several times over the summer months. Yes the last day it does cool down but the seas have never been so rough that it has bothered me and I have been known to get sea sick. I have heard about the seas getting rough but I personally have not experienced those conditions. I am booked on the 12 Aug Panorama cruise.
  17. My wife and I play slots separately and of course as a result we get separate offers my cruise in august 7 days free balcony 1000 free play free drinks I have had big wins 10k+ but usually I loose 2/3 thousand. My last trip a 3 day cruise I lost about 1500 after going through the 1000 in free play, the cruise prior I came home winners about $700. my big wins have been on video poker but I also have gotten hand pays(jackpots over 1200) on slots actually there is much more to know/understand about how carnival gives comps but the above gives you an introduction
  18. Famiycruiser11 you mention checking out possible spa specials, could you give me an idea of a spa special? on embarkation we always arrived early. we do muster station, then up to the buffet. After a leisurely lunch out in the sea air we go to our cabin for a nap! after the nap I get a Bailey’s coffee, find a high traffic area, and with a comfortable seat, people watch till sail away. At sail away I return to my cabin and sit on the balcony and continue my relaxed state of mind. after sail away is dinner then the casino. we always end the evening watching live music. jgb
  19. tomorrow is Ensenada I am curious to know , if you get off the ship, has there been any visible step up in security? Or is there any feeling of insecurity? JGB

  22. I sail on the 26th, in Ensenada on the 28th. Lets see how this plays out. JGB
