Abear2 Posted April 3, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 3, 2014 I have a question about an excursion in Juno Alaska! It's the Whale excursion and glacier! Does anyone know if it's possible to book this with a person confined to a wheel chair? Thanks for any help!
katisdale Posted April 3, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 3, 2014 Yes, it is. We used Orca Enterprises in Juneau for our tour. They sent a lift equipped van to pick us up from our ship. Depending on the tides you may have a steep up or down ramp to their ship. There was plenty of strong help to push/slow the scooter/wheelchair. I highly enjoyed this tour and saw probably 25 to 30 humpbacks as well as otters and eagles.
vickila Posted April 3, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 3, 2014 This company is not a ship tour. You have to contact them ahead of time. Wonderful, exciting tour and Capt. Larry is quite a character! Enjoy. V.
Splinter Posted April 6, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 6, 2014 The shuttle buses that run out to Mendenhall glacier in JUNEAU can also provide wheelchair transport. Make reservations ahead of time on-line for the best service to be sure your bus will have a lift (We use the Blue Bus, which is Mighty Great Trips, $16 round trip). The path out to the waterfall here can be done with most chairs, and the visitors' center is fully accessible (this is part of a National Forest).
