katricia Posted October 29, 2005 #232 Share Posted October 29, 2005 We went on celebrity last March, we had five different time changes on that trip. All of our excursions were at the posted times.
misfit cruiser Posted October 29, 2005 #233 Share Posted October 29, 2005 The sea lions are okay, and are being transferred to other facilities along with the dolphins. :)
misfit cruiser Posted October 29, 2005 #234 Share Posted October 29, 2005 Guys, the Dolphin Discovery center unfortunately won't be back open until August, so you may want to arrange alternate excursions now.

robbie500 Posted November 5, 2005 #238 Share Posted November 5, 2005 Looks like the park is closed til Dec. 15 2005. This is a real bummer. We were due in there on December 10th and were looking forward to this experience, til Wilma came through. Guess we will have to come next year!!! Razl Posted November 6, 2005 #239 Share Posted November 6, 2005 For the info. Love the park and was planning on going again but I bet the gardens and the beach are total destroyed. Glad to hear it will be back -- better than ever.
palmtre2 Posted November 7, 2005 #240 Share Posted November 7, 2005 I had read so many dates - March, August, I'm glad to hear something more official.
solita Posted November 7, 2005 #241 Share Posted November 7, 2005 Hmmmm, according to the dolphin trainer supervisor...2 of the babies died. One was about a month old and the other was born just as the storm has hitting. All the adults and other creatures are just fine.
Babie Posted November 17, 2005 #242 Share Posted November 17, 2005 Any news on when Chankanaab park may reopen? I've never been and would love to be able to spend the day there, but it looks like that's out for this trip... Thanx for any updates.

Jill0526 Posted November 18, 2005 #244 Share Posted November 18, 2005 We have reservations to swim with the dolphins on December 29th. I spoke to someone last week who said they were hoping to re-open on December 20th. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
jennjt Posted November 18, 2005 #245 Share Posted November 18, 2005 Chatted with someone from Dolphin Discovery last week. Chankanaab park is due to re-open Dec. 20th but the dolphin program will not resume until spring 2006. Dolphin Discovery is currently running programs at their other location on the mainland, about 15 minutes south of Playa del Carmen. There is a ferry that runs from Cozumel to Playa del Carmen. It is a very unpleasant 40 minute ride - be sure to bring your Dramamine. My husband took the ferry trip 2.5 years ago (to get to Tulum) and they were passing out (much needed) barf bags to everyone!

Babie Posted November 18, 2005 #247 Share Posted November 18, 2005 Thanx for the info! I figured the park wouldn't be ready when I'm there this time around, but I'm planning on being back in April, so maybe that'll be the time to go. :)
lisad63 Posted November 20, 2005 #248 Share Posted November 20, 2005 We're scheduled to be in Cozumel in the first week of January, and had planned to go to Chankanaab to do some shore snorkeling. Has anyone heard if there will be anything left to see, if they are open by then?
