I am also glad the dolphins are okay. I assume that they are all okay. I did the encounter with Marina in Sept 05. She is only a baby so I truely hope she is okay thanks

We went on celebrity last March, we had five different time changes on that trip. All of our excursions were at the posted times.

The sea lions are okay, and are being transferred to other facilities along with the dolphins. :)

Looks like the park is closed til Dec. 15 2005. This is a real bummer. We were due in there on December 10th and were looking forward to this experience, til Wilma came through.

Guess we will have to come next year!!!

For the info. Love the park and was planning on going again but I bet the gardens and the beach are total destroyed. Glad to hear it will be back -- better than ever.

I had read so many dates - March, August, I'm glad to hear something more official.

Hmmmm, according to the dolphin trainer supervisor...2 of the babies died. One was about a month old and the other was born just as the storm has hitting. All the adults and other creatures are just fine.

Any news on when Chankanaab park may reopen? I've never been and would love to be able to spend the day there, but it looks like that's out for this trip...

We have reservations to swim with the dolphins on December 29th. I spoke to someone last week who said they were hoping to re-open on December 20th.

Chatted with someone from Dolphin Discovery last week. Chankanaab park is due to re-open Dec. 20th but the dolphin program will not resume until spring 2006. Dolphin Discovery is currently running programs at their other location on the mainland, about 15 minutes south of Playa del Carmen. There is a ferry that runs from Cozumel to Playa del Carmen. It is a very unpleasant 40 minute ride - be sure to bring your Dramamine. My husband took the ferry trip 2.5 years ago (to get to Tulum) and they were passing out (much needed) barf bags to everyone!

We're scheduled to be in Cozumel in the first week of January, and had planned to go to Chankanaab to do some shore snorkeling. Has anyone heard if there will be anything left to see, if they are open by then?
