cruisingautiger Posted April 8, 2014 #26 Share Posted April 8, 2014 My 13 year old son has been on three cruises, beginning at 5. He has always had a great time in the clubs. On last summers Alaska cruise he and his "cruise" friends did many of the club activities and then just hang out and do things around the ship on their own. I know sea days can have their moments but I think you have to try really hard to be bored on most of the major Cruise Lines. Ethel5 Posted April 8, 2014 #27 Share Posted April 8, 2014 Our son wasn't the type to participate in the children's program. Our daughter was (she passed away) mentally challenged and wasn't allowed to participate with "normal" children(she wasn't a threat to anyone.) I think the word "bored" over-used! Like I heard Dr. Phil say many times, "people that say they're bored are boring." I also think it's the way the world is. If kids do not have their own friends with them they're bored! JMO I'm very sorry that your daughter is no longer with you. I have a special needs granddaughter who has 6 cruises in her 8 years. Princess allowed her to participate in the kid's club at her own pace. When she didn't quite "get" the rules of a game, they allowed her to make up her own rules and worked around them, explaining to the other kids that she was little and it's ok. How wonderful for your granddaughter. And a great learning opportunity for the other kids too.
