Grand Case

We had to wait about 10-15 minutes at the bus interchange in Marigot which is why it took 40 min to get back.

At no time did we feel unsafe.

But again, make sure you have enough time to return on time, but do not leave Grand Case too early to enjoy it. Just get there early and then leave with enough time to get back and have a little extra time.

We did not leave for Grand Case as early as we could have. The ship arrived at 8am and we did not rush of the ship. So, we could have gotten there much sooner.

Are taxis readily available if I wanted to return by taxi instead?

Yes and no. You can have the restaurant call you a taxi. You can also wait on the road, probably within 10 minutes or less a taxi would be nearby. Which is how we accidentally stopped the public bus, which from Grand Case to Marigot, looks like a regular van/taxi but has a sign in the window. We found this out after speaking to the bus/van driver. We had plenty of time to get back, so took the bus for the experience.

Best bet, just have the restaurant call you a taxi when you are ready to leave or shortly before.

Also, if you have more than 2 people going or returning, the price per person is cheaper. We were the ONLY ones from the cruise ship up there that day so we did not have anyone to share a taxi with. We went up and down the beach a couple times that day and you can usually tell if someone else is from the ship. But everyone there was local, or local from a land vacation at the time it seems as most did not speak English. But our waiter and the waitress at The Rainbow Cafe spoke English with a heavy French accent.

The beach is beautiful and the feel of the entire place was calm and relaxing. It was NOT crowded at all. Most of the chairs down the entire beach were empty but there were others there as you can see in this picture.
