Got passports, when will we get our birth certificates back?

We recently applied and received our passports in just 3 1/2 weeks. How long does it take to get our birth certificates back now? It's been 1 week.....:confused:

We got our passports on 3/28/14. Our birth certificates came in the mail on 4/4, so one week later. They are sent in plain, brown envelopes, not express envelopes as were used for the passports.

Applied for passports for 4/27 cruise on 3/26 (king of procrastination) with the expedited processing.

 

Passports received on 4/5 and birth certs arrived yesterday 4/9.

 

As the previous poster stated, BC's come in plan brown envelope.

Ours came back in the same envelope with the passports. It was a few years ago though, so the policy probably changed. (Sorry, not helpful. :))

Same with us. Also a few years ago. The old policy would seem to be easier and cheaper for them I would think.

Received new passports for my sons last month. All three of their birth certificates arrived about a week later in separate envelopes. I'd wait another week and then start calling someone.

I applied for my son's passport (he was 9 months at the time). We sent in the paperwork a week before the gov't shut down in the fall of 2013. We got his passport back within 2 weeks of applying and we never received his birth certificate back. Not sure if I should blame the post office or them!

 

Thankfully I had planned in advance, knowing we're frequent travelers I requested 4 birth certificates when he was born. It's a good thing!
