Mineu Posted April 18, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2014 We have an over night stay in Istanbul before we fly out to Venice around 8:00 am. I am trying to find out if we will be able to pick up our bags when we land at IST or if they will be tagged all the way to Venice? I have called a few times but no one in their call center seems to know...thanks!
iancal Posted April 20, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 20, 2014 (edited) Not certain of the answer but I would NOT depend on what the airline CSR tells you-Turkish or any other airline. To be certain, when you check in simply ask that your bags be tagged for IST. Next..... check that the tag that is placed on your bag does indeed say IST (Istanbul). After years of air travel...and the odd time when we do check a bag we always double check the destination code. Anyone can make a mistake so we do the double check. We have had good experiences on Turkish Airlines-both international and domestic service. Edited April 20, 2014 by iancal
Mineu Posted April 20, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted April 20, 2014 Thanks for the great advice! Rather than ask the policy-we will just ask to be tagged to Istanbul-this will definitely take the worry out of the equation!
Kwirky Posted April 21, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 21, 2014 Last June on our trip to Rome, our checked bags went straight through. We packed overnight bags for the layover in Istanbul.
