Need-a-vacation Posted April 18, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2014 Is there a difference between having a PVP and just calling into the 800#? If PVP is better, how do you get a recommendation for a good one or get assigned one?
singbluesilver1 Posted April 18, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 18, 2014 You get assigned one Pvps are awesome if you have a good one Sent from my iPhone using Forums
mbet Posted April 18, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 18, 2014 You can call the 800 number, and ask to be assigned to a PVP. Or if you're not in a hurry, I think you can sign up for emails and such on the Carnival website, and enter your phone number. Then if you are on their site looking at cruises, a PVP will probably call you. It's been a few years since we were new, but it worked that way for us. buddylover Posted April 18, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 18, 2014 (edited) You get assigned one Pvps are awesome if you have a good one Sent from my iPhone using Forums That's the operative statement, "PVPs are awesome if you have a good one". I have to laugh because we have tried 4 and all ended up being glorified order takers and offered nothing more than we could do for ourselves. The only purpose, as they cannot offer ONE SINGLE thing different than what CCL offers to all (not cheaper pricing, or upgrades if not offered, or reduced deposits or OBC....NOTHING different) is that if you want a cabin not showing up on the booking site, you can ask by cabin # and they can book it for you.....however, that can also be done by calling the 800#. I feel as if they are only a big revenue drain on CCL as they offer nothing more than any rep at the 800# can offer you. There are many folks on CC who swear by "their PVP"....but since they can't do anything for you that you can't do or find out on your own, those folks who love their PVP's must just like "hand holding" I guess. I, too, can't figure out their allure. In all of my cruises the ones that we had the most difficult planning involved using PVPs. Not a fan of them, but I guess to each his own (and we have tried mulitple PVPs too). Edited April 18, 2014 by buddylover
francina Posted April 19, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 19, 2014 PVP is better to have. You have a particular individual to ask questions. You could request them to keep an eye out for certain specials that you're looking for or price range. golfadj Posted April 19, 2014 #6 Share Posted April 19, 2014 Join a roll call on your next cruise and ask someone on the ship for recommendation. Good one who knows they will be getting a repeat customer is certainly worth having.
cccer Posted April 19, 2014 #7 Share Posted April 19, 2014 We have a really good PVP so we would recommend using one. The biggest advantage is talking to one single contact and getting through right away. If he is busy, he will call back within 5-10 minutes. Last year I had four price drops in one week and he quickly took care of all of them. The last two I just emailed him and he called back in a few minutes to confirm. ccruisequeen Posted April 19, 2014 #8 Share Posted April 19, 2014 My PVP knows my requests, HC, empress deck, three beds on floor for myself and senior parents, checks for upgrades in a good location, etc. never had a problem with him.
Jimmy Geegitz Posted April 19, 2014 #9 Share Posted April 19, 2014 We had a great. PVP but she quit. Then we were assigned new one who wasn't very good. The last 3 cruise we booked on our own direct and we get instant service for any price drops or issues. Love it.
Rare APDMOM Posted April 19, 2014 #10 Share Posted April 19, 2014 You can also do a web search for a PVP on carnival funville... some names have been shared there and we found ours that way. I agree that the biggest plus for us is the easy access though a phone call or e-mail. She gets right back to us. We still check our own price drops and just let her know.
