Getting a taxi in Ketchikan

One of our party is mobility-impaired, so we will need to get a cab from the ship. We are at Berth 2, I think. Can we just walk to the street and hail a taxi, or is there a taxi stand nearby?

If I remember correctly they have a free shuttle bus that will take you dodwn town. Its not much of a walk for people with out mobile issues. are there bringing a motor scottor you will not have a problem then.

No scooter. We want to get to Cape Fox Lodge to see the totems, and maybe have a bite to eat. I guess we could get the shuttle (would that get us to Creek Street?) and take the funicular up to the Lodge. Thanks.

I don't remember taxis lining up at the pier, but the visitor's center is on the dock. Maybe they can help you find a taxi if one is not there. I couldn't find the shuttle route online tonight for some reason, but even if they dropped you off at the left side of Creek Street it would be about a 1/2-3/4 block walk on a wooden sidewalk to the funicular (which occasionally,but rarely) is not working.The right side of Creek Street would about a 1-1&1/2 block walk. A direct taxi might be a good idea if walking is difficult.

I think we'll try to find a taxi; that would be my first choice. Thanks for the info! Hopefully there will be some taxis trolling around by the cruise ships :D
