Sailing on Grandeur-happy to answer any questions

Recommended Posts

Hi Janice,

Ray and I are also on this cruise with you. This will be our first time on Grandeur and we are looking forward to it and going out of Baltimore since we can drive to the port. We plan to arrive around 10:30 and get on the ship and check her out:)

There is a roll call set up for this cruise. We are going to try and meet at the pool bar after muster for the sail away. People will be wearing distinctive hats or beads to identify themselves.

No one has mentioned hair dryers. Hopefully they have them???

On Celebrity there never was a problem with Select Dining and eating early, so hopefully there won't be here either. We are not doing any formal evenings and will eat in specialty restaurants on those nights.

See you on Saturday,

Lucy

Hi Lucy

We did not have a problem on Enchantment; this is our first cruise on Grandeur.

Hope you have a wonderful cruise!

Last chance today for any questions.

We are headed down to MD today. Can't wait!

Janice,

If you could, we're always interested in bands and dance venues in lounges, etc. Iknow they have a 60's, 70's night, but could you check on bands and kinds of music?

Thanks!!

Enjoy!!!:)

Mike

We will look out for him.

If you run into him tell him the lady who sang him the Croatian song says hi.:D His station is the first area of MTD as you enter the MDR on the left. He also works the drink station in the morning in the Windjammer.

We were on Grandeur last week.

Not to steal any thunder from your help on answering questions, but here are some:

There are hair dryers, ours was in the desk drawer

You could hardly tell there was damage to deck 10. The deck is flat, but they're still working on the pins/staples to keep it in place. So part of that deck is still closed. So if you're a runner or walker you just turn there. The more annoying part was the part on deck 9 which is closed so you can't walk under it. You kind of have to snake around the pool.

You have to see Kenne play piano in the Schooner bar - he was great. We hung out there every night.

Ricky (CD) and Andre (AD) were great. Andre said he's on there until May.

Hope you guys have a great cruise & better weather then we did

I'm finishing up a grad class this weekend, hopefully then I can get some time to write review,

We were on the April 12th sailing. The staff did a fantastic job of cleaning, washing walls and stair rails. Purell dispensers at all restaurants, shops and casino. By day 3 or 4 we were able to serve ourselves in windjammer, so my guess is no noro on our sailing. Enjoy your trip!

Sitting in the Viking Crown now And most repairs are done and anything remaining is all but unnoticeable. I ran 5+ miles on the deck 10 track yesterday. The r small step overs at 2 points but barely noticeable.

Good to know! I was looking forward to walking that track...from the pictures I've seen the views look great. (Not to mention, having a big crack in the ship you're sailing on is a little disconcerting, at least to me, I don't care how many people insist it is not a structural problem. :o)

Where is the wow?? Grandeur of the seas review 4/26-5/2/14

Day 1 embarkation day

Arrived at MIL in Columbia last night. Had a great dinner at Shannon's in Ellicott City.

Got up around 9:30 this morning. Had breakfast and packed up our overnight stuff. Had a light lunch and headed for the pier about 12:45. Practically walked right on the ship. Love the port of Baltimore. We carried our bags on. Cabin was ready when we boarded. Cabin is sall but lots of storage space. Skipped the Windjammer. I know the idea is that we paid for it but just didn't want to deal with the crowds.

Muster took about a half hour. We walked around the ship a bit and checked out the damage on deck ten.

Had a couple drinks and started getting into vacation mode.

When we boarded the maître d asked if we would mind going to dinner at 5:30. It seems they are pushing reservations for MTD. Not sure I like it. We were asked to set a time while we were at dinner again tonight. This defeats the whole purpose of MTD.

Our servers were ok but seemed distant. Assistant waiter never said two words. . Dinner was good. DH had the chefs suggestion of meatball appetizer, beef and veal tortellas(tortellini) and drunken chocolate cake.

I had the shrimp cocktail and the tortellas. I had orange mousse- it was delish.

They are really pushing the drinks to the point of being annoying. I had iced tea and the bar girl kept pushing non- alcoholic drinks. Sure so they can make money.

After dinner we listened to the Evergreen Trio in the centrum. They were really good.

Nothing much going on and we were tired so we called it a night.

No plumbing issues or smells so far.

More tomorrow.
