Our first time in Caribbean Oasis cruise in November is only in port from 8am and sets sail at 2pm.....with only this much time in port, what would you folks who have been there many times recommend that 3 newbie couples do....?? Thanks for your help.....:)

One idea is to go to the Ardastra Gardens and Zoo. They have a Marching Flamingo Show which we enjoyed.

Another idea is a walking tour of Nassau and there are good maps online.

My daughter went to Graycliff Hotel (not a far walk from pier) to see the cigar making- people can also see the chocolate making. One needs to call ahead for details. Graycliff is an old hotel where Winston Churchill stayed.

We like to take a taxi over to Atlantis and walk around to see the yachts and shops at Marina Village and try the casino- all free.

There is much to do in Nassau, even during a short time.

Just for the record, all taxi drivers are trained as tour guides by Bahamas Host, and they all give tours (country, city, historic, beach, whatever) at the union rates. (it's illegal not to).

You can walk outside the port exit and find a dozen great tour guides willing to go anywhere you want for a predetermined price.

No need to pre book.

Like I said on other post ScubaGirl, ALL tour guides are NOT created equal! I am sure there are other very nice and knowledgable tour guides but we were lucky enough to meet Mario and had a really great tour and I am more then happy to spread that news on these Boards so other people looking for something to do in Nassau or a good tour they will ready my posts and decide they would like to PRE BOOK Mario! I personally prefer to pre-book all my tours and excursions when I cruise (my 30th cruise coming up this September). Then I don't have to wonder if I am going to have a good time, I researched on Cruise Critic and Trip Advisor and Pre-book on the advise of OTHER people's experiences! Isnt that exactly what these boards are about??

Also, I give them my personal email so I can give them Mario direct contact information because I believe it is Cruise Critic's policy that we cannot put direct contact information of tour guides on these boards. If I am incorrect about this , then I will immediately start posting his contact information on the boards but until I hear that I can I will continue to offer my email for interested parties to contact me.

This is like the 3rd post you have tried to "shush" me regarding my experience with Mario .........why???? It just doesn't make sense why you would care if I singled out a specific tour guide???? And someone else accused me of getting "kick backs" from Mario ???? If that is the case they why the heck do I go to work everyday , I can just sit home in my PJ's and collect my "kickback" money, I need to let all the other places I have promoted on the boards that they owe me money too......Gosh 30 cruises ??? that is a lot of excursions and ALOT of kickbacks I am owed!!!

Just for the record, I didn't accuse you of getting kick backs, and I didn't try and shush you.

I just pointed out to others that most taxi drivers give great tours, and that ALL taxi drivers are trained tour guides. There's not need to pre book or waste time looking for a specific guide. It's a union regulated tour.

As for you're post, some people find it a turn off, and will purposely go elsewhere. I don't know the rules for posting, but I do think you're are not supposed to give your personal info .. but don't take my word for it. I'm just another poster.

We as poster CAN give our personal emails out if we wish what we CANNOT do is give out the email or contact info of the tour guide!!!! That is why I told people IF they wanted to PRE -BOOK they could contact me via my email and I would then provide them his contact info.....simple!! And you don't seem to understand...just because they all had the same training and are goverment regulated does NOT mean they ALL are good tour guides!! Geez not all surgeons are GOOD surgeons and MOST people look to others for their experience before they book a surgery with a certain surgeon!!! ALL tour guides ARE NOT created equal.

If others have good experiences then they too should come back on the boards and talk them up!!!! The End of this long drawn out tit for tat! Let others be the judge of who they want to listen to!
