BW Thunderbird Beach Hotel Sunny Isles, FL

Does anyone have any experience with this hotel? We are interested in just spending time on the beach before our cruise in May 2006. I know it is an old hotel that was refurbished in 2002. Was given a King Room with view of the pool and partial ocean view, which isn't important before a 15 day cruise. The beach is what we want!!!!
