Dining Room Question.

We have just booked our first cruise with P&O, on Oceana, and we have chosen first sitting for our evening meal. What if we decide to use the Buffet, do we tell somebody that we won,t be needing our table on that evening? It seems rude to just not turn up. Thanks for help.

Yes it's important that the waiters know - or at least that your table companions know otherwise the waiters will wait to start serving thinking you may just be late. As has been said either tell them the evening before if you know you will be dining elsewhere or if you decide later then a quick phone call to the restaurant and the message will be given to the waiters.

Thanks for all your help, it will mainly depend on what is on the Menu that particular evening, so we will be able to let our waiter know straight away.

Menu is usually on display outside dining room earlier in the day so you know at lunchtime - but if not sure when you are going to the buffet you could just tell your waiter that you might be using the buffet occasionally so not to worry if he doesn't see you on occasional evenings…..
