solostar Posted April 26, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 26, 2014 We have just booked our first cruise with P&O, on Oceana, and we have chosen first sitting for our evening meal. What if we decide to use the Buffet, do we tell somebody that we won,t be needing our table on that evening? It seems rude to just not turn up. Thanks for help. lake5298 Posted April 26, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 26, 2014 There's no need to tell anyone, but it would be polite to let your table companions know the previous evening, as they might otherwise be waiting for you to arrive before they order their dinner. Janet- Posted April 27, 2014 #6 Share Posted April 27, 2014 We usually decide last minute to use the buffet so just telephone the restaurant and ask that a message is passed on to our waiter.
annieuk Posted April 27, 2014 #7 Share Posted April 27, 2014 Yes it's important that the waiters know - or at least that your table companions know otherwise the waiters will wait to start serving thinking you may just be late. As has been said either tell them the evening before if you know you will be dining elsewhere or if you decide later then a quick phone call to the restaurant and the message will be given to the waiters. solostar Posted April 27, 2014 Author #8 Share Posted April 27, 2014 Thanks for all your help, it will mainly depend on what is on the Menu that particular evening, so we will be able to let our waiter know straight away.
lake5298 Posted April 27, 2014 #9 Share Posted April 27, 2014 Thanks for all your help, it will mainly depend on what is on the Menu that particular evening, so we will be able to let our waiter know straight away. Menu is usually on display outside dining room earlier in the day so you know at lunchtime - but if not sure when you are going to the buffet you could just tell your waiter that you might be using the buffet occasionally so not to worry if he doesn't see you on occasional evenings…..
