Cabins on Lido deck Royal Princess

Sailing in Feb and most of our group booked cabins on Lido. Those of you who have already experienced these cabins, was your experience positive for the most part? Enjoy the close proximity to the pools and Horizon court? Too loud with all the action?

I sailed April 13th and had a a cabin on the Lido Deck, perfect. In fact the year before as a fluke we had one on the Ruby, loved the location so did it again on the Royal. It was near everything we needed inlcuding a late night pizza run.

Right now we are in standard mini suite but REALLY looked closely at the Premium mini suites all the way forward. They are category M6 and are larger inside as well as balcony but just couldn't quite justify the addl cost. Maybe the upgrade fairy will grace us with one of those if they are still available closer we get to sailing

Lido is a great place for a cabin, we book this deck the majority of times we cruise. You are close to the pools in the center of the ship, and only one flight up to the retreat pool. A quick walk to the Horizon Bistro and Horizon Cafe. Right outside your hall is the pizza and burgers! There isn't any noise that we heard on this deck, but we were not the first room in either! I didn't ever hear Jo or Jeff going for a drink run!

Going to the casino or International Cafe is a straight shot down the elevators (if you can get one) :D This was our second inside ever just three weeks ago on the Royal. My recommendation would be to stay away from a sideways positioned inside cabins if you choose this deck and stateroom type due to the configuration of the cabin. The Royal is a beautiful big ship, I hope you enjoy your adventure!

I have read the sideways cabins are great.

They are great on the Grand Class ships, but in my opinion is that on the Royal and they are not great.

Here is a excerpt form my review and live from of 4/6/13

I agree with the posters that recommend the sideways interior cabins on the Grand Class, as I have seen them on numerous cabin crawls. I can tell you from personal experience on the Royal in L208 that this is not the same extra large cabin enjoyed on the Ruby, Emerald, and Caribbean Princess.

This Royal sideways cabin has several obstacles to overcome including very limited traffic spaces between the closets and bathrooms. If you want to get into the safe, clear the area because no one is coming through!

Secondly, the top desk drawer the hairdryer is in makes it nearly impossible to open the cabin door if someone is blow drying their hair. I nearly took the drawer off its rollers opening the cabin drawer while my wife as drying her hair.

Third, the television is affixed to the wall and does not swivel which is not a real big deal, however it aligns for optimal viewing for only the first person in the bed closer to the door.

Lastly, the closet space is diminished a bit and the amount of clothes one may hang is limited.

Also, you get a little bit of early morning and late evening noise from the deck chairs above you at the retreat pool in the front of the ship.

Now these are not huge deals, but if I had it to do over again, personally I would not book a sideways interior cabin on the Royal, but would on the Ruby, Emerald or Caribbean Princess, just my opinion.

Cheers!

Ken

We are currently booked into L227 which is the first mini suite starboard side..6th cabin from the open deck area where Prego, Mermaids Tail and Trident Grill are located. One of the main reason we booked here is for the close proximity to the deck area as we like to sit outside in evening and heard the balcony space outside of the cabin is extremely limited.
