You have my sympathy and hope you're feeling better soon. I was up all night last week sneezing and still haven't got back into a sleep routine. Every night I wake up thinking it's nearly morning and the clock says 1.45am. Doh! Hate it, there's nothing worse than being awake in the middle of the night. Do they still have those caravan sites near Antibes and Nice? I remember years ago that people would go on the coach.:)

I remember years ago some friends of ours, who's 2 children were quite young then, went to Antibe on the coach from Lancashire. 30 hours later they arrived, nightmare, a whole coachload of screaming kids. Not for me, lol, but the caravan idea isn't a bad one.:):)

Ahh... Caravan holidays at Clacton on sea. The talk of caravan holidays brings it all back... Come to think of it, I also remember those communal site concrete WC & shower blocks... Nah, I'm with John on this one, Cruise beats caravan every time. Even if the room is bigger. :D

I am not going soft in my old age. I will have you know that I have always been soft... I just like my caravans to have restaurants, bars & a casino within walking distance. :D Oh and room service is nice as well. :D:D

Hi all, haven't been on here for a while but look in occasionally, have enjoyed many caravan holidays... they have lovely large picture windows, you don't usually complain that the food was rubbish when you get home, and ekco, they won't sail without you :D

Hurrah... Just checked in online & printed our boarding passes. Seems a bit weird doing it two weeks in advance, but I like the new system. :)

Wouldn't it be nice to choose a particular cabin the same way.:):)

You mean choose the cabin number online when you first book so you know what you're getting at the time of paying. Just like they do at Norwegian Cruise Lines... Very un-British ways of doing things, just like their free safes & room service. :D

Yes it is something we look forward to each Thomson cruise. First booking your cruise online like the rest of the industry, then calling their whatever pence per min phone line for the honour of spending another £42 to pick a room... Is it just us or do others have a list of favoured cabins in their category, & go through them one at a time with the nice Thomson's lady while she repeats "no" & "that ones gone as well" resulting with one over the bow thruster, & end up thinking after the call "why did I just pay £42 for that ?" ..... Ahh well, I must enjoy it as I do the same every year.

lol, That's exactly what we did so this last time as we booked late, and for some reason you can't book a cabin within 4 weeks, we took pot luck and got quite a good one midships without having to pay extra.:):)

  • 3 weeks later...
  • 2 weeks later...

OK, only just back from a very good I.E. cruise & have been unfaithful already.

A look at my countdown clock will reveal I have booked a couple of weeks on the NCL Star for the following frivolous reasons :o... I got a good price, it was the only two week cruise to fit in with my leave, & the I.E. is unlikely any time soon to be calling at Copenhagen, Bergen, Alesund, Lerwick, Thorshavn, Reykjavik, Glasgow, and Dublin.

However I will be returning to the IE shortly... Probably very shortly after this one to warm up after visiting Iceland at the end of September
