Rare GeezerCouple Posted May 3, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 3, 2014 Has anyone used "Rome Chauffeur" for a pickup at Rome's FCO airport, to a Rome hotel? Our first choice transfer company was already fully booked, and they recommended this company. The good, the bad, the ugly (if any)? Thanks! Rare GeezerCouple Posted May 25, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted May 25, 2014 We are back from Italy (sad - and already planning our next trip). Rome Chauffeur was like clockwork. The driver was waiting for us with a sign, as planned. The only delay (not long) was that after locating us in the International arrivals area, he needed to go get the car, and then come back and pick us - and luggage - up. NOTE: If you have more than one suitcase and one carryon piece, make sure they know that in advance, or there might not be room (even with only 2 passengers). We'll probably use them again next time. Host Star Posted May 25, 2014 #5 Share Posted May 25, 2014 what was the cost from rome airport to center of rome hotel?
Rare GeezerCouple Posted May 25, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted May 25, 2014 If I remember correctly, it was 50 Euros. It's posted on the websites, and it seemed to be the same for the basic pickup for any of the services. There is extra charge if you want a car tour of the city en route to your hotel. To get to most "in town hotels" (ours was near the Borghese Gardens), the "regular" taxi ride went right by the Colosseum and other ruins, for no extra charge. (Same on the trip back to the airport - a nice way to arrive and leave town!) Because the regular taxi fare is 48 Euros, for the 2 extra Euros, have someone meet you :) NOTE: On the way back to the airport, we just took a regular taxi. All taxi's had the fixed fare to FCO (48 Euros) clearly posted on the side doors. But our driver started the meter, and we looked at each other... Sure enough, when we pulled up to FCO, he stopped the meter, and announce 54 Euros! We replied, "It's 48 Euros fixed to the airport." The driver IMMEDIATELY nodded, turned off the meter, and never said another word. GeezerCouple

For 5 Euros extra, you made the right choice. Even if the luggage would fit, you (the people!) would have been crowded in most of the regular (non-van) vehicles. Enjoy your arrival :) GeezerCouple
