Jewel Drydock in SF - Let the Games Begin!

Watched the Jewel dock in San Francisco this morning! Passengers are still debarking and then the work begins. Looking forward to seeing/experiencing the changes :).

No changes to Spinnaker Lounge. Putting Morderno on Deck 13 where Star Bar was. O'Sheehan's replacing Blue Lagoon and Morderno on Deck 8. Casino getting some updating.

Spinnaker was a great place for non-balcony folks to see AK out of the weather. Glad they're not eliminating it.

 

The move of Moderno back next to Cagney's is a good idea. The space was cramped and the salad bar wasn't up to Epic standards. This will be better use of space. Also making that entire area O'Sheehan's will be nice too. Loved that area on Epic. It wasn't just a diner like blue lagoon, but a more of a destination.

hoping they do something with the ventilation for the casino. I love walking deck 7 outside, but dang it stinks next to the casino vents. blech.

No charge for most things (can't remember exactly what they charged for, maybe ice cream sundaes?). Bigger menu than the current BL menu. More of a pub atmosphere, with a full bar and possibly darts, pool table, etc. tables and bar seating, likely with bar seating overlooking the atrium.

Is it a bad thing that I cruised just 4 1/2 months before the ship was dry docked? Probably.

Confirmation that Moderno will be where the Star Bar is/was. Just got our M&G confirmation for May 24th cruise and it is at Moderno located Deck 13 Midship. :D

I have read they are intending on refreshing the suites among other improvements. I do hope that does happen as we will be in a 2 bedroom penthouse in about 2 1/2 weeks not that I felt there were any condition issues when we were on the Jewel last year.

We will get pics posted once we get back as well. Pics of your shiny new GV would be wonderful!:):D

The one thing I'd like to see is the installation of the "baffle" between the floor of the Haven Deck balconies and the promenade deck below. Those who have sailed with both "baffle" and "no baffle" will know exactly what I'm talking about, it's a bit difficult to describe... But installing the baffle, like they have on the Jade and the Pearl, etc, would be a great improvement to privacy on the balconies of the more forward Haven suites...

First time posting over here in the NCL forum. Saw the ship as I was driving home and had to come in here to find out which one it was. I can see her from our sofa :)

 

How long is she here?

I believe around 12 days.

 

The Jewel, and her sister the Pearl were both in SF today. The Pearl is currently several miles out of Golden Gate headed north to Victoria.

Strange... she made a few attempts at the dry dock and has now turned and headed east out into the Bay.

 

It is quite windy here... SFO was reporting 33 mph gusts. Perhaps they're waiting for the weather to settle.

She's definitely moving. I looked again after a few minutes, in the direction of where she should be if she was in dock, and she was gone! Freaked me out :eek:
