Connecting through LA to Vancouver - any had to do this?

For my Alaska cruise, I'm flying from Boston to LA and then connecting to another flight from LA to Vancouver (all on American). The BOS to LA flight arrives at terminal 4, but the flight to Vancouver leaves from terminal 3. Anyone know whether I'll need to re-clear security in terminal 3 (boy, I hope not) and the best way to get from terminal 4 to terminal 3 (looks like there's an airport shuttle bus, but is it possible or advisable to walk)?

havent done connection thru LAX-I do know you can walk outside of term 4 and walk down to term 3(next to each other-5 min walk at most). I am guessing you will have to clear security in term 3. Have fun. Liz

It is a short walk between Terminals 3 and 4 (there is a shuttle, but by the time you wait for one, you'll have gotten there faster by walking).

 

Presumably, your bags will be checked straight through to Vancouver, but you will need to go through security again when you go to your gate assignment in Terminal 3.
