At Sea 4Ever Posted May 6, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 6, 2014 First let me start by saying thanks to all of those in the past who have written reviews! I am writing this review in hopes that it will excite someone about their upcoming cruise as reading them in the past has excited me. So whether your counting down the days or day dreaming of the next one, I hope you enjoy! Some Background: My DH and I love to cruise and have been for many years. We are loyal to Royal and are currently Diamond members almost Diamond Plus. We had done a B2B three years ago on the Allure for our honeymoon and just fell in love with the ship. With our three year wedding anniversary approaching we figured why not jump on her sister the Oasis!? Selection: We chose the last week of April for the weather and because it worked out best with our work. Itinerary did not matter to us since we have done both the eastern and western many times before and because we had no intention of leaving the ship. Cabin selection was actually a funny process because we switched our cabin so many times up until and even after final payment that we joked we had our own private cabin crawl! We ended up with a D4 Ocean View Balcony on Deck 8 Starboard. Cabin 8696. We chose to sail again on an Oasis class for a few different reasons. Our reasons may seem silly to some but important to others. First was the most important, Central Park. One of the most spectacular things we have ever seen. Beyond romantic, it was truly incredible and our only wish was to spend more time there. If only the real Central Park twenty minutes from our home was just as peaceful. The Second was the Beach Pool and Solarium. On a cruise we spend more time by the pool deck then anywhere else on the ship so naturally we would want the best pools at sea. The Beach Pool just feels so fun and the umbrellas are perfect for a long day in the sun. The Solarium is truly a tropical oasis, no pun intended. Our third reason was the ample amount of dining options. We wanted a change up from the traditional dining room and Windjammer offered on most ships. We tried almost all of the options while on the Allure so we knew ahead of time where we wanted to go. Overview: This review will be all about the ship. Ports of call and excursions will not be included because it wasn't a part of our vacation. I will occasionally compare both the Oasis and Allure to each other. Entertainment and dining will also be included and of course plenty of FOOD PORN! I do ask that if you are following or are showing interest, please just let me know! Someone on another thread just posted the compasses for this sailing so please let me know if you would like them posted or skipped. It's Show Time......! FishOn55 Posted May 6, 2014 #5 Share Posted May 6, 2014 Looking forward to you review. My DH and I are contemplating either Allure or Oasis for our wedding anniversary next March. I'd love to hear more about the process that led you to make your final cabin choice. Was the cabin you finally chose a connecting cabin? Any noise from the cabins nearby? Any problem with your oceanview? (specifically if there were lifeboats in view when you looked down to the ocean) Can't wait to hear more of your trip. We will also do a western and except for Labadee cabanas, really have no plans for the other ports. :-)

Gordo Posted May 6, 2014 #15 Share Posted May 6, 2014 Really looking forward to your review. We plan to sail Allure next year for the chance to experience more of the ship and not as much the ports. This review will be extremely helpful. Thanks.
brookmill18 Posted May 6, 2014 #16 Share Posted May 6, 2014 So excited to read this! We'll be on Oasis this summer and just switched to our first ocean view balcony!!! Can you point me toward the review with the compasses--I feel like the CC RCCL site can move so fast you can easily lose a new thread! Thanks again--we sail the Oasis for same reasons and also plan on staying on ship (except one beach in Cozumel) for the entire time as well! brookmill18 Posted May 6, 2014 #17 Share Posted May 6, 2014 re: thread with Oasis cruise compasses... I should have checked before asking, because thankfully the reviewer could't have made it any easier to find by naming their thread "Cruise Compass for Oasis 4/26 thru 5/2 Western are Attached"! Thanks!

balcony4u Posted May 6, 2014 #22 Share Posted May 6, 2014 Looking forward to the review. We were on the Allure in Dec. for our 20th anniversary, and soon realized we really wanted to bring the kids on this ship! So we have Oasis booked for Dec 2015...a long ways away, but I am excited to have a countdown;-) Can't wait to hear your comparisons of the two ships.
