Alchemy Bar veterans

Ok.. so in preparation for our cruise on the Freedom and it's new Alchemy bar I am seeking info from those of you who have had a chance to use/experience an Alchemy bar already. I'm trying to find out what the fuss is over the Alchemy bar over any other bar on the ship.

 

What is the best thing about it? Do you order off of a menu or do you just ask them to make you something special? How do I get the most out of it?

I've only been the once, but when I was looking at the menu (really awesome, looks like slate with a backlight on it!!) I couldn't choose, so the bar tender asked me what my flavours were and made drinks like that. We decided we wanted one creamy/chocolatey drink and one fruity drink. I don't know the name of what we got but they were spot on. Also, for a custom drink, the bar tender charged us the middle price of a martini, so pretty fair considering what we got.

 

Give it a try, there's no tricks to getting great drinks or anything. Hopefully you'll get a really nice staff member like we did who was excited about doing their job and creating new and different things.

Until our last cruise we had never order from that bar. Then, our last cruise we tried every drink on the menu. All of them were really good! Now it is a favorite stop. Normally I only drink beer but those drinks were awesome!

Ours were on the Conquest last year.

 

Don't even look at the menu, tell them to make you something and give them a starting place.

Order like this "Can you make a sweet drink with strawberries?"

or "I would like something cool and refreshing, we had a hot day in port"

 

They will fix you right up!

It is included in Cheers, and you can upgrade your liquor making it 9.95, but free on your receipt. Cucumber Sunrise is my favorite and definitely got our moneys worth with Cheers :D

On the Conquest last Oct Apple was my Mixologist in the Alchemy bar. They are great and can make any drink much better than the other bar tenders. Give it a try and you will love the Alchemy bar. I learned I like my Martini's stired not shaken. They actually did taste different. Who would have known.

Yeah on this board, there is a lot of fuss over it. But definitely understandable.

 

No great trick to getting awesome drinks. Just pick something of the cool looking menu (has a backlight), or ask the mixologist to go crazy and make you something different. I told him the first night that i like fruity yet very potent tasting drinks. He gave me something pinkish/purpleish with blueberries and had me coming back every night.

 

reat bar, great bartenders and great atmosphere (even if it is right on the end of the promenade)

There should be one night billed as "write your own prescription" ask for a prescription, it's a fun souvenir

Something that's strong and tastes like a thick and creamy milkshake and something strong that tastes like a strawberry/banana smoothie. Oh yeah!:D

We were on the Conquest last year and had Adri, Maja, and Tatsiana as our mixologists. I think Tatsiana was our favorite, but they were all excellent!

Loved everything I tried there on Liberty last Sept. Looking forward to the Closer and 40 is the new 20. Also loved the cucumber sunrise that has watermelon, so refreshing.

 

Plan to do the martini tasting and sign up for the learning to make the martini presentation next week!!!

Alchemy Bar is great all martinis the girl that will be in charge on Freedom is awesome and a lot of fun!

On the Liberty with another couple, the ladies were drinking their martinis, I was enjoying a Moscow Mule, but my little buddy had to walk back towards the casino to get his beer.

 

He came back with a bucket of Stella from the EA Sports Bar, so he was happy.

That's what we do. DH drinks a 7 & 7 and gets it at the casino bar & I drink various martinis ;). We have gotten to know the alchemists very well on the Liberty & the Conquest. They are fantastic!

They will serve water, alchemy style. When those martinis start kicking in, ask for a glass of water and they will fix you up!

Absolutely CANNOT go to bed without first stopping by the Alchemy bar. It is the perfect ending to another great day of cruising.

 

We start at the top of the menu and work our way through all the great selections. My DH will get one flavor and I will get another, then we share a sip or two. :D
